I see this FAQ with ASC convertible figures:

> Previously unavailable to the general public, ASC has been kind enough to > provide us with the EXACT numbers of how many 240sx cars they converted.> A HUGE special thanks goes out to Mr. Foully for doing the legwork on this.> Mr. Foully, 240sxConvertible.com owes you a hearty THANKS!

Check it out:1992........23271993........46021994........1391

Total.......8320

First, what is "ASC"?

and are these the number of convertibles built?? It sounds like these are just the number of 240SX that ASC 'converted' Did 'converted' mean to say that they made convertibles out of some other 240SX, like the coupe?

Thanks

Barry sends

American Sunroof Corporation.

I think those numbers are the totals for the North American markets (US and Canada). ASC did all of the North American verts.

Convertibles were made from partially-built coupe shells.

Saw your vert on Craigslist. Good luck selling it!

Barry, if your check engine light is still on, you can reset it by disconnecting the negative battery cable and turning the key in the ignition to "on" for a few minutes. Then turn the key off and hook the cable back up.

Didn't they change company name to 'American Specialty Cars' which still remains as ASC? Have you seen their hardtop convertible z32? They got some skills. IMHO, ASC is one of top conversion companies out there. I wish they did these 4 things to our 240 verts.

1. Better quarter window mechanism2. Better material for interior panels3. Glass rear window. Smaller window or smaller back seats are okay with me.4. No seat belt posts on the door (for some people). I like them cuz it's unique.

Same here. I also like original factory antenna. In these days not many cars have an antenna that goes up and down...

Found this article about ASC.http://autos.msn.com/as/articl...w2004

Yup...I got a few pics of it also. I believe they only made 6 of them.

Especially with the quarter windows...I wish the buttons were more responsive. A glass rear window would have been nice...even Lexan.

Autech is the company that worked on converting Silvias right? It would have been nice if we had the kind of top they offered. No frantic searches for convertible boots.

Wait a minute!! I guess I meant to ask, how many Nassan Factory 240SX convertibles were made in total for 1992-94.

Ish, are you saying ONLY 9,000 ! ! ! So, my car (for the time being) is one of only 9,000 factory 240SX convertibles ever made and sold in the world ! ! !

I guess the price just went up a few sheckels.

Just kidding.

I just got a VA emissions inspection today, and it passed with the grace of an understanding inspector (engine light on, and a wisp of smoke coming from the pipes). Actually, I put the top down so the sunlight shown on the dash and the check engine light was barely noticeable... (Ish, I didn't see your post until just now... and the car is on cars.com, also - shameless plug -)

So this month I did a safety and emissions inspection, a new battery, and a new windshield. Since the radio went belly up this morning, the next thing is to reinstall an original radio or get one of these blue tooth radios for $169.

This car is going to make someone very happy.

Ish, I just looked again at the pictures on craigslist .

On the second picture you can see some of my other cars. The green VW camper is also on the block. Not shown is a '93 Accord and a '99 Lexus. Plus another '78 VW camper under going bare bones body restoration .

So, I paid $40 for a 30 day space at Ft Belvoir Virginia, and some dude parks in it!! He has a '04 350Z @ $25k but doesn't answer his phone.

I went to the base police (Provost Marshall) and they sent an MP down to the lot. The MP says she knows the guy, and will get it moved. This being just before noon today, I said I will be back at 6 PM. 6PM and he is still there!! The new sergeant on duty said they will tag the car and he has 72 hours to move it. 72 HOURS!!

Sergeant said they have to wait until Monday to check with the MW&R center to get his name,. I say, 'hey, he's not registered with MW&R and didn't pay his $40, so they wouldn't know anything. Besides, his name and phone number is right on the window!! And he has a Ft Belvoir sticker, so all you have to do is contact the Provost Marshall (remember, this the Provost Marshall's Office I am talking to...) to get his address...

But I don't want to pi$$ someone off, especially not the MPs nor a guy who will know my car, being that is the space he is squatting on...

Tomorrow ...

Barry

Why does this post sound like a plug to sell your car.... you do know there is a classified area to shamelessly plug your car ... maybe post up a few pics even, but you having issues on the base... blah blah blah... TMI.. if you need a shoulder to cry on about some guy parking in your spot, you could always try one of those other 240 sites... and telling us about your other cars for sale, just in bad taste..JMO

Sorry on the 'for sale' thing. I really didn't expect anyone on the 240SX convertible forum to be interested in buying my other vehicle, I just didn't notice any comment on the recent '94 FS in Florida, so I guess I was just going on and on . . ..

Ish, I tried the battery negative ground cable off and key on (both in the on position, and then the next time, in the start position). The check engine light is still on.

This light has been on for over four years now, and throwing a code 32, the last time I checked.

It has been reset in the past by disconnecting the battery, but no longer. Also, years previously, I have reset it a few times at the ECU, per the manual, but it always came back on, although usually not immediately.

To fix the lit check engine warning light, the engine temp sensor was replaced a few years back by a mechanic who 'goes by the books', but the light came back on the next day. He was 'family', so I didn't go back at him. The original temperature sensor was within resistance range at room temperature IAW FSM. I didn't check it further.

I have passed Virginia bi-annual emissions for the past six years, including yesterday (visible smoke was not visible when run on the rollers). I have kept the reports.

My normal mechanic said "don't let it bother you". I have checked all the other things (BCT, EGR valve, other stuff) so with the recent O2 sensor replacement and ECU swap out, I am not going there again. Having it NOT being reset with battery cable disconnect makes me want to say, gremlins...

Which other 240 site is more emo than NICO?

A link to his ad would be a shameless plug. I don't see a link in this thread; it seemed to me that he was more or less just chatting. See my post up there ^? "Saw your vert on Craigslist. Good luck selling it!"

Here's the rest... Yeah, roof line looks like old Eclipse, but overall I'm pretty impressed with ASC.

I'll admit they did a really nice job, but I'm not really a fan of 300zx verts

And just to threadjack for a second, thanks for the Car and Driver, 94
