i have an auto - jerky shift between 1st and 2nd but only when the engine is cold. once warm it's smooth. you should've seen the fluid i drained...s.hit was black and sludgy like he put eng oil instead of tranny fluid in there.

how long trannies last depends also where you live. east coast have a shorter lifespan because of a lot of salt in the winter - i've seen one the bell housing with a hole rusted out. but that's just my opinion.

mine's got around 200k and gets driven hard, and will hopefuly last till i get rid of the car.

There are other 5th gen owners with >200k without issue. If you service the tranny every couple years and don't power-drop it it should last a decent time. 140k on mine and it does pretty good, tho at times it seems to slip a bit between 1st and 2nd which others have said was pretty normal.

Anything over 100k is blessing since most JATCO trannies are designed to function 100,000 shift cycles. It [mileage] all depends on number of shifts per mile driven.

Interstate vs traffic jams and redlights. ATF replacement intervals can prolong the eventual $3,000 expense and are more that cost effective even every 2 years.

I just hit 200K and my rear main seal went out, tranny was shifting hard so I replaced it under warranty anyway.
