This is likely a stupid question, but I don't want to break the covers. How do you replace the bulb in the side markers? I tried getting at the rear ones from underneath the car, but couldn't get at them. Do I just pop the cover off with a flathead?

Thanks in advance, sorry for the dumb question!

ya, i tried the screwdrive DONT DO IT. You have to go from under the bumper, and unscrew the nuts. For the front uninstall that black plastic under-bumper thing, that protects the wheelwels etc

A very thin flat blade and a cloth worked for me.Must be careful and patient.

I'd opt to access/gently push them out from the backside. Brittle, old, possibly already cracked plastic, ya know.

I used a cloth over a butter knife. I didn't pry the lens off, I pulled the cloth tight over the knife blade and slipped in between the lens and the rear bumper. After the blade was in place, I relaxed the cloth and pulled the knife straight out.

The cloth picked up a little volume when I relaxed my grip on it, just enough to catch the lens. If you pry, you run the risk of cracking the rim of the lens.

The lens needs to slide first in the direction of the arrow in the above photos, and then gently pry the edge with the tool outward.

Thanks for all the information guys! Gerardjg, much appreciate the illustrations. Are those from a service manual of some sort? If so, where can I buy one of 'em?

Thanks again!

Hi folks, (Yes I know this is a 4+ year old discussion - but hey, these cars are still running.)

I see that the link to phatg20.net is not valid. Anyone know the new path?

Regarding Gerardjg's (or phatg20's) diagrams: Does anyone know what kind of force it takes to pull out the parking light assembly? I've popped the top screw but the glass assembly won't budge. Does it snap into some kind of plastic socket at its backside? If so, I'd expect to apply a bit of force to pull it out. I simply can't afford to break the darn thing.

Regards,
Chris

You need a flat head screwdriver and either felt, velvet or a microfibre cloth. Wrap the flat head into the cloth and pop gently. A gentle side to side motion helps.
