Im wanting to do this while im installing my audio system. i hate how its a pain in the a** to take out from up front. i always break the plastic thing when taking it out. the trunk will just make life easier when dealing with the battery.

You could take the hood cowl off right? What is it, 2 or 4 screws?

I think you are technically supposed to have a sealed battery when it is stored in the passenger compartment - because of harmful chemicals the battery emits. There are a few guides out there; I searched a little for them before I found out I would need a new battery to do it safely. I changed my mind haha

WTF... I tried google searching a write-up for you and nothing came up. Why wouldn't such an obviously helpful mod not pop up immediately in a quick google search!? Anything to make some space under that hood! It's mind boggling to me...

^ Didn't search hard enough! The reason there aren't any specific guides out there though is cause it's the same for every car. Extend positive wire to trunk, drill hole to framerail for new ground, securely mount box in trunk. The means may be a little different for each car but it's all the same thing.

This is true. Unless you have a sealed, gel cell battery (i.e. Optima Red/Yellowtop, etc.) or a box that vents directly outside, you will be filling your interior with hydrogen. This video is a fairly accurate depiction of what will happen if all that hydrogen is ignited (your car is the middle).

You don't need a box, all you really need is a secure way to mount the battery to the trunk. Boxes are recommended though because they're safer (required if you plan on going to a drag strip or racetrack/autocross) and keep the battery protected.

Either go on SummitRacing and buy yourself a battery relocation kit, or you can just piece one together yourself if you don't find any you like. All you really need to do is make or buy a box, buy ~15ft of positive cable, ~5ft of negative cable and a set of connectors for your alternator and ground.

You can, just make sure it's protected. That path will take it right by the exhaust and through the rear suspension, not to mention you don't want the cable to get thrashed by something you drive over.

ah very true. should i run it down the driver or passenger inside..? then just drill a hole in the firewall im assuming....

now ive been reading.. i think i should run the ground up the the front as well and tie it back in to where it normally goes right?

I would run the cables inside as much as possible...Make sure to run speaker wires on the opposite side of the car if you have a system. Electrical wires too close can cause "noise" in the speaker wires.

Passenger side is easier as that's where everything ties in. You can run the ground back to the front if you want, it isn't necessary though. The only thing you really need to make sure about is that you connect the heavy gauge wire from the small fusebox next to the battery tray to the new positive connection and you gotta ground the transmission to the firewall.

im planning on running the pwr cable along the transmission wall on the inside and leave the door rail for speaker wire, so there is no interference.

Sure, if you want. As long as you connect that fusebox to a power source, you'll be fine. Otherwise your car will not start.

Maybe your car is different? Mine was connected directly to the positive terminal if I recall correctly. It was awhile ago though so I could be wrong. It definitely needs power though! Lol.
