I live in NJ and my car got (driver's fender and frnt bumper) hit while parked. guy left a note and $ for repair will exceed his $500 deductible; he'll prob pay through his insurance. Repairs total about $900.

1) will MY insurance rate go up if he's going through insurance, even though he caused accident and is paying through his insurance?
2) do i hav to pay my deductible (also $500) bc we are going through insurance?
3) do i even need to let my insurance company know of the incident (especially if we go through insurance comp)?
4) will i owe my insurance comp anything bc of this?

Thanks.

Answers to all of your questions are no. You would only have to pay if you didn't know who hit your car. Your rates won't go up or anything so don't worry about that either.

Here is the answer your question.

As long as he's insurance accepted liability due to he admitting that he was at fault, you don't even have to report it to your own insurance. He's insurance company will fix your car & will provide you a rental car while your car is in the shop being fix. You will not have to spend a dime. Even if you report the loss to your insurance company & have them fix your car first rather than waiting for the other guy insurance, your rate will not go up since your insurance company will be able to recoup the money paid for your car but you'll end up fronting your deductible first.

I've been in your situation for a few times & i also used to work directly for insurance company. I don't like to wait too long for the other insurance company responding to my claim so i just fix my car thru my insurance company, front the deductible & let them do all the work to get their money back + my deductible.
