Sorry to hear that.

Where did this happen? Was there any security camera? Try find out. If they had you might be able to get the SOB.

Also call your insurance and find out what's covered and what is not. Get to a bodyshop and find out how much would it cos to fix it?

I don't know when it happened. I was bumping gas. I saw the marks near the rear right side tire. I thought it was dirt, becoz it has been raining the last couple of days. I started wiping it off. Then I saw the big long scratches... then I saw a bunch more...

Just file a claim to insurance. So I am waiting for them to call me...

I think it was a new mustang that did it. I parked next to mustang that parked badly, but it thought it was safe since it was a new mustang.

Are you sure the damage would even be worth filing for insurance? Is there a dent or just scratches? Would they buff out?

How do you bump gas.

no dent.. just some scratches took the paint off.. and few minor scratches.. if buffing can heal the paint.. I am all for it..

the scratches are long... from the rear tire to the rear of the car...

Baby....I wouldn't file that on insurance. That probably wouldn't cost over $200 to get fixed.

Its cheap compared to the amount your insurance will go up (and stay up for years to come).

Best thing to do would be to repair it out of pocket, or even just touch it up until you can afford to do it properly at a shop.

Your insurance will not go up for something like that. The same thing happened to me last year and I filed it under my uninsured coverage. Paid $250 towards the $750 repair bill and that was it.

My insurance never went up because of it. The only way your insurance would go up is if you have bad credit or have submitted numerous claims in a short period of time.

Credit because those SOB's can determine your premium amount in part based on your credit score. Never mind if you pay the premium on time and always have. You can think our pathetic congress for that one.

Anyway, if you have uninsured coverage that is what it is for. If your deductible is $250 and the repair bill is at least $500 I would file it. If repairs are under $500 and you have the cash just pay OOP.

My $0.02 anyway.

I would get an estimate before I did anything.

I had a perfect driving record, then I had a car stolen. Liberty Mutual canceled me because my car was stolen. Then to get insurance with another company, I had to pay more because I was a "high risk" because I had been canceled. Believe me....insurance companies can do anything they want.

I would get paint samples and do a DNA test. You could be on Maury.

You don't want to turn into Captain Queeg - particularly with a co-worker. She may not know she hit you. The "nice" thing to do would be to leave a polite note saying that your car was scratched after parking next to her and you noted scratches on her bumper - did she perhaps brush your car? You at least give her the chance to do the right thing without coming off like a douche.

Very frustrating when people don't do the right thing. If it were me I'd get it fixed and use the insurance if the other driver can't be identified.

I was just assuming. I really don't know for sure. I got no evidence.

but I got my car in the shop today.. it will take 4 days... I miss her already.

I don't like Maury.. Jerry Springer is better.

In CA, an insurance company can't arbitrarily raise the rate of an individual insured. There has to be a change in risk. The act of filing a claim, in that of itself, does not constitute a greater risk. A chargable accident does. In this case, it was caused by someone else, so it is not chargable. Hell, even if it was his fault, if the damages are less than $750, it isn't considered a point. Other states will vary, but insurance companies can't do whatever they want. Insurance is one of the most highly regulated industries. If they have leeway to do something that seems not right, its because the state's regs allow them to do it...
