Welcome to NICO! Now, for starters, a lot can transfer over engine-wise between the 350Z and the G35, as they both used the VQ35DE (or HR, depending on year), so there's definitely a strong aftermarket. sites like Z1 carry tons of performance stuff for Z's and G's. What are your plans for it?

A solid tune-up and inspection is always the first order of business before adding power.

After that, Stillen makes a supercharger kit that seems to be one of the more popular power adders.

I'd cross reference some documentation first. Check the maintenance schedule vs the records (if there are any) and the current mileage.

Yeah there's a hell of a lot more to an engine than just spark plugs.
How many miles are on it?
Have you done a compression check? If so, what were the numbers?
Have you inspected all the gaskets to see if any were leaking?
When was the last time all the fluids were changed (not just the oil)?
How do the belts and hoses look? Do you know if any have ever been changed?

If you run enough boost/make that much more power, you'll have to get a colder spark plug to prevent detonation... maybe that's what the guy was telling you.

I've always liked BC Racing coilovers on the G chassis. For me to answer any other questions, you're really going to have to start answering mine so I can give you a legitimate answer.
