Just picked up my 2007 M35x last weekend. I have been searching through the manuals and forum for an explanation to using DTS surround dvd's. When I use one of these disks the screen only shows 2ch mode and not 5.1 surround. The specific DVD is The Eagles - Hell Freezes Over. I have also tried another DVD The Matrix recorded in Dolby Surround and I get the Dolby Surround logo showing on the screen but still 2ch only. In addition to all this the source shows as Aux not DVD.
Perhaps I have something set wrong here but any information or knowledge share is appreciated.

First of all are you inserting your DVD/CD in the DVD player in your console? If you are then not sure why it's reading as aux!! :gotme next if you are in the DVD in your console go to your settings and search "audio" and go to surround info... Should be able to change it from there!!! Good luck!! :bigthumb:

the 5.1 audio disc commonly called DVD-A must be inserted into the compartment below the center arm rest and your car must have advance tech with the speakers near your shoulders on front seats. Sorry if you know this already but its your new car and first post.
If the car is not in park with emegency brake on you may have difficulty manuvering in the the DVD-A screen etc just like the hassle entering distinations while the car is moving. there is a hack or fix on the after market for this.

Are you sure you have the advanced tech package with the included DVD player from Infiniti? It seems like you have a base package with 3rd party DVD player plugged into your car's AUX ports.
Do you have speakers in the top of your front seats, on each side of the headrest?
The only way to get 5.1 is from the infiniti advanced tech package. Anything plugged into the AUX will only get 2.1

Good point!! An aftermarket DVD player may be installed and tapped into the main screen and consequently play under aux and not have 5.1 either!! :wtf2:

Check for speakers in your seats.. And get back with us maybe... :gotme

Hi guys
Thanks for the replies. I have the full Infiniti Bose setup, speakers in the seats etc and using DVD player in the armrest. Nothing after market here. I tried another DVD movie The Matrix, and it comes up in full 5.1 but for some reason the DTS version of The Eagles is still coming up in 2ch. I will try some other DVD's and see what is happening.

some DVDs arent recorded in 5.1. Some DVDs, you have to go into the menu of the actual DVD and choose 5.1. I've ran across both.

I have had the same experience with DTS and the same disc as the OP. It will not decode DTS; but other discs recorded in DD 5.1 surround works fine. Perhaps a limitation of the system?

Also, splix is correct in the fact that some discs require you to go into the menu to choose DD manually; and some do not.
