Hi,

I am the new owner of a 1991 240sx SE hatchback with the automatic transmission (don't flame me!) and a KA24DE engine. It is black, and is without ABS brakes!

I attempted to clean my MAF sensor and ended up breaking the solder contacts and I think I killed it. Like an idiot, I removed just the sensor, not the housing....and now I know what everyone was talking about....re: the solder is the weak point. Car ran perfectly before, and now has the classic symptoms of a "loose nut behind the wheel". :frown:

The current MAF has a part number of:
22680 53F00 A36-000 G6O (not sure if that last digit is a zero or the letter o)

I found a used MAF....(from '94 Altima)...but part number is:
22680 D9000 JA36605 GAO (not sure if that last digit is a zero or the letter o)

1) What MAF part number(s) can I use to save my ride?
2) If I use a different MAF number, it may still fit, but will it alter air/fuel readings and such? I don't want that.
3) Please help me. I searched and for every one person that says I can find an Altima MAF, there is another saying only certain years, then another poster saying no as the Altima KA24DE engine is tuned differently and using its MAF will screw up my 240sx.

I love this car....I screwed up. If it were a woman I'd be buying flowers.

haha take a deep breath man, it isn't the end of the world.

I'm sure you could use a GA0 MAF in a pinch, but the connector might be different (so you'd have to do some soldering). Your best bet is to just pick up a used G60 MAF. Have you been through our classifieds? I have an extra one I could sell you. It's just been sitting in a box for a few years.

THANK YOU PapaSmurf!

I checked Craigslist for the Chicago, Indianapolis, and Washington, DC areas (none!), eBay (one for sale but the seller emailed me that he does not know if it works as he "found" it in his rental garage, and I checked the classifieds on this forum. There are no G60 MAFs, but PLENTY of GA0s with their sellers swearing that you can use them in a 240sx. On eBay alone, there are 14 of them starting at $24.99 shipped.

Again, I know it will "fit", but I don't want to lose performance or change the characteristics of fuel/air mixture because it is "close enough for government work".

I was with my buddy here in Chicago 22 years ago when he picked up this Nissan as a graduation present for himself for finishing dental school (I was his ride to the dealer) . He got married and immediately moved to Seattle- no road salt there! He is a good man, a great friend, and a successful dentist, so he just gave me the car and bought himself a new Nissan. He said, "Don't screw it up, man." So there is no rust except for the damn foam rear spoiler which I am taking care of next week (only one of the ten spoiler mounting holes had rust!) This 240 was well taken care of....I have it one month and destroyed it. And I'm the guy who fixes everything in the neighborhood. Ceiling fans, lawnmowers, electrical outlets- yeah, that's me....and I killed the 240sx.

Please let me know about the extra 22680 53F00 A36-000 G60 you have, I will buy it.

Here in Chicago, you don't see many rust-free 240's. This thing is a lot of fun- even with those seatbelts which are a conversation starter. I park it at the mall and 1/2 the time there is a note on it asking me to sell. No way!

Thank you again....

I'll try to get some pics of it tonight and email them to you.

The worst thing that could happen with the GA0 would be that it is slightly off and you get a CEL or something. At which point, you're just out the $25 you paid for it. I'll verify what I have is a G60. It came off my 240 when I upgraded to a 300zx TT "N62" MAF.

As an added bonus, you get that cone filter adapter on there too haha. Or I can pull it off if you want.

Thank you PapsSmurf....please hang on to the cone filter adapter in case you need it or if another member could make use of it. I want to keep this ride as stock as I can as far as intake- I like seeing "stock" cars at these shows, and enjoy seeing something different, which in this case is a stock intake.

I will figure out how to send you a private message re: payment and shipping details. I can't thank you enough.

hah yeah I emailed you shortly after posting in this thread. Did you get it?

I also removed your email address from your last post (I can go into your profile to find it). You never know who is out there that wants to send you junk mail or sign up for random stuff using your email :)
