Heats seats

Postby wassimeh » Fri Jan 22, 2010 10:59 am

Hello there,
I'm a new user to that forum and I think I really like what I see here so I hope to make this forum my new home :-)

I'll be posting picture of my vers 2009 to present car later this weekend.

But Actually I was thinkg about tweaking my car to add Heat seats to it since there was no option from my dealer to add it. Is there any company that does that ? Anyone ever experienced or installed that on their car ?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums! We hope you stick around and make this your new home!
Can't wait to see the pictures of your ride.

I did a quick google search and came up with this:
http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/seatheatac.html

I think your the first person to ask about heated seats.. not sure what kind of work would be involved in it.. and what would have to be done. Maybe just getting some heating pads and slipping them under the cover and wiring them to a switch, or replacing the whole seat. Hopefully the link will help you out a bit. If not let me know and Ill do some research for you.

I can only assume there must be many aftermarket auto trim shops that can install heating elements in your Versa. I say this based upon the numerous times during new car shopping I'd turn to the sales rep and ask if heated seats are available knowing full well that in the case of the make/model I was looking at, it wasn't something the manufacturer offered.

99.9 per cent of the time the rep would say 'yes' and when asked if this was from the manufacturer, they would admit that it wasn't but that it was something they have done 'locally.' Same thing for sunroofs if the model you are considering doesn't offer it.

I've never had heated seats installed by an aftermarket shop only because I fear they may not be able to duplicate the manufacturer's quality when it comes to re-installing the seat covers but that's probably an outdated concern. Like everything else, I'm sure it boils down to simply who you get working on your vehicle that specific day.

If your dearler can't suggest a source, I'm sure if you phone other dealers regardless of brand, they will be able to. Then I'd make sure the shop(s) you are considering actually show you one in process and of course the finished result.

It's unfortunate Nissan doesn't offer them from the factory, especially when you consider at that stage it probably doesn't add more than $10 to 20 to their cost and that both Korean marques offer them on even their cheapest models in this market.

I had one of those massaging/heat seat pads you buy in sears for like $20. They are pretty uncomfortable, so I tore it apart, pulled the heating element out of hit and put it under the fabric of my seatback. Wired in a switch to turn it on/off, and now I have heat on my lower back. Works great, and is cheap.
It's like this one, but I got it at walgreens for ~$20
