I have a universal O2 sensor from Auto Zone. It has three wires, but only two colors. The two that were the same color are for the heater, and I don't think it matters which way you wire the heater wires. The CA sensor wire is thicker so you can't really go wrong.

Worked for me.

Yea, you're right. Either you'll have 2 wires the same color, one to ground, one 12v+, or you'll have a red and a black. red = 12v+, black ground.

wire colors sound ok.

but good quality o2 sensors use stainless wire into the sensor.you can only silver solder it or crimp it onto connectors.
