I don't recall anyone having this problem before. For some reason, I flipped that little tab on the bottom of my rear view mirror today - the one that you're supposed to be able to use to change the mirror's angle if someone comes up behind you with high beams on. This is probably the third time I've ever touched this thing... tint goes a long way in not caring about what's behind you.

Anyhow, something fell out - and I have a mirror that flops. Weight keeps it where it's supposed to be, but it'll probably rattle on rough pavement.

Any suggestions on a fix? I may bite the bullet and buy a new one, but they're about $100. I'm hoping a decent mirror shows up at the pull-a-part, but I'm not holding my breath.

I remember those from other cars, but the "grille" G50s with the auto dimmers don't have that lever.
I guess you could take it apart and see what you can do with it, but if there is still a service part avail from the factory, might be worth the price?

If I understand you correctly, it sounds like the set screw worked its way loose.

$100 for a standard rear view mirror? Wouldn't a generic $15 one from most any place that sells auto parts to the trick?

It's not a set screw problem... the parts that connect to the tab on the bottom fell out. I'm not sure how a generic one would attach to the roof. I think I'll hold out for an auto-dimming one at the pull-a-part. Of course that means we won't see another 94-96 with black trim in Columbia - ever. :D
