My 2002 Nissan Pathfinder has the SES light flashing, runs rough and vibrates, especially when the light is flashing. Ran codes and got P0305 and P1145. One mechanic wants to replace Intake timing solenoid. Another got the same 0305 code, but says it's camshaft sensor. Any ideas?

p0305 is a miss fire code for cylinder number 5. The 1145 is for the camshaft sensor but from my experience a bad vvt solenoid will set that code since it causes the camshaft to be out of phase.

Welcome to NICO.

P1145 indicates the driver's side camshaft position sensor possibly being faulty. Swap it with the driver's side and rescan for codes - if P1140 shows up, replace the camshaft position sensor. If P1145 is still present, the solenoid is bad. See this guide for the sensors' locations.

Make sure cylinder 5 (passenger side, closest to the firewall) has the ignition coil pack's wiring harness plugged in and ensure the wiring is intact.

I'll poke through the FSM to try to find its location. I haven't read of anybody needing to replace the solenoid, however, and my own Pathfinder had both P1140 and P1145 and I replaced both sensors with a couple Standard Motor Products parts from Amazon and the codes have remained off for over 20k miles now. I doubt you will need to replace the solenoid.

I had the ignition coil replaced and that got rid of the vibration/running rough issue. The light, which was off initially, came back on after a while, but it's no longer flashing. Should I still see about the sensors?

Yes, have codes scanned again. The camshaft position sensor is probably still faulty.
