I have a problem with the wrinkled leather in my car. I have tried using some water on a sponge, soapy water and a sponge and Lexol PH cleaner and the Conditioner and today Lexol Neats Foot. None of the above have yielded a desirable effect, but has helped a tiny barely noticeable bit.

The padding behind the leather is nearly gone so do you think that replacing the padding with the above chemicals will fix this?

So what are my options besides Leatherique because I don't have the time for it?

Maybe you should devote the time you spend to creating posts to the leather? :-)

No idea what that means but thanks for taking the time to post.

Well thanks I guess I really do need new door panels down the line if I desire a perfect interior.

Well, if you're gonna scrap the panels anyway, maybe try some shallow (T30 or smaller) staples in as innocuous place as possible to hold the leather after you stretch it tight again? You could get some model paint from a hobby shop to touch-up the staples to the leather color... :gotme

Honestly I would try to ignore it, or take it to a good upholstry shop. I suspect leatherique won't do anything for it even if you had the time.

Forget about Leatherique Paul. I guarantee you you will not be inpressed nor will you achieve what you're after. You'll waste your time and money. Keep your eyes open for a pair of excellent condition door panels (no rush obviously).

try getting the leather moist and let stand in the sun. or use hot air gun. maybe the leather will shrink when moisture is pulled out of the leather. it does normally by being wet then drying it. just not sure if it has lost all of its collagen or whatever makes it stick together. if any change you will also have to deal with the glue on the back maybe have to be added

You could go to the backside of the door panel, pull up all the glued leather tabs and re-stretch and re-glue to get the wrinkles out. I have a feeling it wouldn't end up any better than what you've got now.

From looking at pics of newer Q's it seems like the leather "wrinkling" is a lot more common. Is there more padding in the newer Q's?

Thanks for mentioning Leatherique in the OP subject. I always wondered if leather repair products were available like the ones I see on their site. I may try some of the rejeuvinator oil to keep the leather looking as near new as possible.

"rejuvinator oil" and all other "conditioners" are a total waste of time and effort when applied to a finished, COATED leather like the Q has.......even simple tap water will not penetrate or soak in..........only thing you can do is keep clean and apply a UV protectant on surface.....try 303 aerospace protectant, Vinylex, etc.....nothing gets past the plastic coating to absorb into the leather beneath.

He's got it. It's not leather you're dealing with. It's leather with a protective coating that you'll never get off, or through. Replace the leather or find somewhere else to spend your money.

Thanks for the COATED information. Now I know why the leather on an almost 20 year old car looks so good. I've got some 303 already that I have been using on the dash and vinyl areas.

Screw it I will use up the rest of Lexol and stick with 303 Aerospace Protectant.

By the way the best thing you can do to a 1990-1994 GMC Jimmy (S15) is add a rear sway bar. With it there is no wheel hop and it stays straighter in the corners.

:bs: I disagree. The best thing you can do with a GMC Jimmy is stick it in a crusher and just get it over with. :rotfl

A friend of mines runs an upholstery shop. When I upgraded my seats on my 98 Maxima by changing the cover to Leather, he used steam to get the wrinkles out. Try checking with a reputable upholstery shop what they'll recommend.
