i bought a set of imagine from hybrid audio and have been dying to test they out. unfortunately after taking apart the entire door i find out they do not fit into the speaker hole. the speaker is about an inch away from fitting entirely. i was wondering if anyone knows how i could get the speaker to fit without cutting the door?

How are you trying to install the speakers? Screwing them right into the sheet metal? Or are you using a spacer ring (like one made out of 3/4" MDF)?

This is more or less how mine looks. I had to cut the sheet metal anyway.

is there any chance you could make me two for the imagines and i'll pay you? or could you provide me with the thickness and i'll find an audio shop to cut me one?

That was just 3/4" MDF. I traced out the OEM speaker and cut it with a jigsaw. Unfortunately, I don't have the equipment on hand to easily make more. But a small sheet of MDF shouldn't cost much more than about $8. If you have a jigsaw, drill and a pencil, that would be sufficient to make them. Also, you need to measure the inside cutout to fit your specific speakers (many have different shaped spiders, so there could be variations in how you want to cut the ring).

unfortunately i dont have access to a jigsaw. How much would you think it would cost to have a shop build a pair? also does your speaker interfere with the grill?

The speaker does not interfere with the grille, even at full tilt.

I don't know what a shop would charge, but if it were over $25 I'd probably walk away. If I had a router I probably could've made both in like 5 minutes...

i had some adapters made by Mr. Marv. He is a dealer recommended by Hybrid Audio themselves. iirc it is against forum rules to post links to competing sites so i cant post his info. Heres what they look like:

Far better looking than mine. That's the benefit of using a router versus a jigsaw...

So did you end up installing these in your car? Did you find a shop to make you the rings? How much did they charge?

Did you power these with an amp? Or did you run it straight to your head unit.

How do they sound? Are you satisfied with them?

yea i installed them. I found a guy named mr. marv to do the rings. you can google him to find his info. It was 45 and some change.

i have these on a hd 900/5. I think they sound alot better than stock. i sat in my back seat recently and the sound was horrible. Im satisfied with them...until i figure out where i wanna mount tweeters and place a crossover. then i plan to upgrade to something else from hybrid audio
