I just finished wiring the Consult Port up, anyone who hasn't done this should, it is very useful!
I have a 98 TypeX SR in my 90 240 hatch. The new SR ECUs can't be manually switched into test mode, nor do they have a flashing LED so you can read codes. My SR had always run rich so this was my best option in finding the problem.
I cut the consult plug out of a mid 90s altima out of the junk yard. I wired it up directly to the ECM harness.
Here is a pic of the plug (I think most are grey)
And here is the wiring diagram for the plug I followed. (off plmsdevelopments.com website)
**Note: Remember, the following is if you have a 89-90 which doesn't have the consult hardwired to the dash harness. If you have a 91-94 the plug should be on the driver side. You don't need to wire it directly to the ECM harness like I did, just wire it up to the dash plug.**
So basically, there are 3 green wires coming from the large ECU Plug of ECM harness that go to the dash plug at the end of the harness (wiring between the ECU and dash plug.) (Confirmed for a 98 s13 SR, please check your ecu pinout for other engines.)
TX wire: GreenCLK wire: Green/whiteRX wire: Green/black
You just need to match those up to the wiring diagram for the consult plug linked above.
There are also 2 additional wires you need to splice into on the ECM harness (wiring between the ECU and the Firewall.
Splice into the Black/white cable for the 12v power to the plug (this is the ECU power cable if you check your ECU Pinout), and then into any ground cable.
I extended the wires out about a foot for easy access.
Now since I don’t have access to Nissan’s Consult reader, I bought the USB interface cable and DataScan software from blazt. (
http://www.blazt.biz/ )
It has a ton of cool features, including realtime display and logging, 0-60 times, check ECU codes, timing set, and much more!
Anyways, I found that my O2 sensor is not working, probley my wiring somewhere. It is an awesome tool, I only wish I would have set it up sooner!
