After much debate, I finally decided on the Thule 400XTR Rapid Aero with the #2183 Fit-Kit. cargogear.com had the complete kit for the Versa for $288 plus I bought a set of 4 locks for an additional $40. Here's what arrived:

Here are the towers (feet):

The load bars:

The vehicle specific fit-kit:

And the locks:

Here it is all installed:

There's no drilling involved, I can take it off at any time, and no tool are needed to install. I really like it a lot. It's solid as a rock. I could have saved a little money ($30 or so) and gotten plain square, black bars, but I really like these better. I will be installing a Thule Flat Top 6 ski/snowboard carrier on it for winter and a kayak carrier for summer. Anyhow, just thought I'd share.

excellent. I would have gotten the aero myself if I did not already have a collection of bars. Good job. Fred

Thanks. I have no idea what happened to my pics! They were much bigger than that last night. I'll have to try to fix them.

Looks great man. Those are very convenient when you have to carry or haul stuff around. I'm all for the clean and simple appearance. Personally, I don't care for them, it makes the V look tacky and rediculous. That's what trucks are for.

OK...I think I fixed the pics (I hope).Yeah, they are all about function and VERSAtility. The car does look sleeker without them, but they will enable us to do a lot more with he car.

I decided to go with an Inno GrabMax 940 for the ski/snowboard carrier. It should mount right on to the new Thule roof rack with no problem. I was all set to get the Thule Flat Top 6, but this one actually fits better and it was less expensive. I'll post pics of it when it comes in and I put in on the car. It's this one:http://www.rv-inno.com/html_pa....html

That looks awesome! Thank you so much for posting all of those pictures. I've been thinking about splurging on a roof rack too and seeing how awesome it looks definitely pushes me a little further towards it. It looks great and it's good to hear how easy it was to install and how easy it will be to take off.

Holy thread resurrection, Batman! I posted this 3 1/2 years ago! If anyone is interested, we just traded the Versa and I have the roof rack system pictured above for sale. $125 plus shipping and the whole setup is yours. The foot pack and load bars can probably be adapted to other vehicles (check with Thule to find out).
