Finally got a Q45 (Y33) and its having a hard time

Postby whabbahead9 » Wed Jun 27, 2012 12:12 pm

Just bought this car monday and am already having problems... I guess thats what yoou get when you buy a car for $2000. . First, it over heated TWICE on the way home during a jouney that should've taken two hours TOPS and took about four and a half hours, but I know what that problem is. There is another problem with starting, it take several repeated turns of the key go get the starter to turn and inturn start the car. I can get the starter to engage but not nesscesarily turn over. Is this the starter or just a connection, or an even deeper problem?

1. Thats often a sign of a starter on its way out.
2. Radiator and entire cooling system may be due for replacement. You'll need to be more specific about the conditions (highway/city? weather? AC on or off?) that were in place prior to overheating.

Could also be a weak battery.

Have someone load-test it. Most stores that sell batteries (Auto Zone, Napa, Pep Boys, etc.) will do it for free.

LOL, glad to hear it. We always make new members wait a month so they have to figure out at least one repair on their own.

I replaced the starter, and replaced the radiator.
