ECU FAULT CODES

Long Flash - 0.6 seconds on (the first digit)
Short Flash - 0.3 seconds on (the second digit)
Long Gap - 2.1 seconds off (used between codes)
Short Gap - 0.9 seconds off (used between digits)

There's a screw on the back of your ECU. Turn it counter-clockwise until it stops. Don't keep trying to turn, it won't get any harder and then stop. It'll just stop. Then, turn the ignition key to on. Either your gauge cluster will flash, or the check engine light will flash. Count the long flashes, then the short flashes (only count how many times the light is ON), and you'll have a 2 digit code.

Note: Don't forget to turn the screw clockwise again when you're finished.

It flashes "55" when everything is good to go too, right?

Definitely not.. Part of me wants to assume you're being sarcastic..

There is a lot of mal-information out there. I have read several times that 55 was the good to go code. But I trust with all the research you do that this is correct.
O and IDK if this is normal, but my friend black-top with a J4 ecu has no screw... lol

I'm looking in my service manual right now for s13 KAs (Nissan uses the same flash codes in its ECMs for similar generations) and 55 is "No Malfunction in Above Circuits" My S13 JDM FSM unfortunately doesn't have a code list, it only has circuit diagram, ECM pinout, general maintenance, and mechanical. I double checked with my S14 manual, and 55 is "No Malfunction in Above Circuits" according to S14 ECMs as well.

Weird. That's the list from 240sxmotoring. Need someone with a consult and 55 showing up to test it out.

55 simply means (to my understanding, at least) that the ECU can not figure out what exactly is wrong. This means nothing may be wrong, or something else might be wrong. Some people always flash a 55 with their perfect running motor. Some don't flash anything. If your car isn't starting and it's a fresh swap, check to make sure your fuel lines aren't reversed. Otherwise, go with the basics: Fuel, Spark, Compression, and Timing.
