Does anybody know the factory speaker sizes on a 91 Fairlady? I tried searching this but I was reading a bunch of different answers.

Not quite sure but with the Bose its 6" front and 3" rear and without it they are 6 1/2 front and 6x4 rear.

On my fairlady when I replaced the speakers, I had to do 5 1/2 in the front and 3 x 6 in the rear because of the weird sizes. Mine didn't come with the bose system in it obviously.

Really? On my 90, all 4 were 3" or 3.5" Blose and it had the CD player and cassette combo as well.

My front and rears were 5 1/4 but with the conversion plate for the rear, they are 6 1/2.

I don't think Bose had any idea what they were doing, obviously. They still suck even on newer vehicles.

LOL, what was the last Bose vehicle you heard?

In the 1990 coupes, the Bose system was 4"ish fronts, and 6.5" rears. On 1990's only, and I'm 99% certain it was coupes only.

1991 - 1996 was the tri-lobe 4"ish speakers all around. That's only the Bose systems. IIRC, all years had 6.5" fronts and 4x6" rears for the base system.

It depends on what you are looking for. If you are just wanting a deck and some speakers you can pick them pretty much anywhere. Alpine is usually what I go for if I am going to do it that way. I notice that you a a Calgary man, so basically you are looking to go to Visions, Best Buy, Future Shop, etc (Any electronics store). Just pick up a pair and if you are going to install them yourself try them to fit and if they don't, just go back and pick up the right sizes. If you are going to have them do it for you then they can deal with all the sizing problems.

I know not all years of the Z had the same size speakers. For instance, my 1990 and my brother's '92 are both different and they had the same options of cassette and cd players. Even the connectors for the speaker amps were different.I chose to take all the Bose stuff out and drop in the circular file cabinet. What I did was installed an Alpine head unit and 3.5" Infinity in the doors and deck as they fit perfectly in the holes of the factory plastic speaker enclosures the Blose speakers left. Then I also added a sub and used 2 external amps and it sounds pretty decent.I more of an audio fanatic when it comes to home audio as in the Z, there is just too much exhaust and road noise to spend the money on hi-rez audio in my opinion.

Isn't as good as what? You can't compare OEM to aftermarket. OEM to OEM, Bose is up there with the best.

I'm not comparing OEM to aftermarket. I'm saying it just isn't as good as you would think...It's so much more money for the system when their new, and maybe it's just a step over the baseline speakers. Now step into a Lexus with the Mark Levinson sound system. That's audio quality at its best.
