so i was watching initial d and wondered if the thing that akumi does when he drives is possible. That thing is filling up a cup of water and drifting without spilling it?

so basically is it possible to drift/drive fast without spilling a cup of water?

I thought you were the "Rain Specialist" why are you asking us?

I believe people use something similar to the gutter trick, where they fall into the steeper part of the Karussell in the nurburgring.

I can see a very skilled drifter with very slippery (not sticky) tires and smooth pavement being able to do the water thing.

Oh and let's not forget super stiff suspension (the type that makes your balls hurt).

Ive got $5 saying if you tried the gutter trick you would dominate a lower control arm the first time out, and every subsequent time.

Co-signed, i cant see a control arm lasting more than a few times (if not failing the first time) supporting the entire weight of a car.

The main character puts his wheels into the rain gutter and hooks his wheels onto it and goes around the corner very quickly without having to brake.

which basically pulls him through the turn on the inside of the turn like he is on rails while the opponent slides to the outter corner do to the laws of physics.

No matter how smooth you are the lateral forces will pull the water over to the side, so the water level has to be low enough to compensate for that. It does however make sure you aren't jerking around to the point that it sloshes out of the cup anyways.

Even with smooth driving however, water in a cup would still slosh around a bit if your REALLY driving hard, it may be smooth but the transitions are fast enough to still splash water out of the cup.

Rally drivers actually use it all the time. Sure the stamped out OEM cheap control arms my not like it a lot, and looking to a cartoon to learn to drift makes you a huge ***....

But in that case its a real trick.
