Good evening everyone.
I have recently picked up an RB20det, tore her down and got to work. One of the first things i have done is ordered a top mount turbo manifold. After reading through skyline australia's forums, i have come to discover the Kinugawa td06 20g 8cm turbo i have bought for the project will not fit (very easily) to the stock manifold. The turbo i have specifically choosen is an external wastegate type and thats pretty much where my question originates from. I'm intending to use the above mentioned turbo in conjunction with a set of 750cc denso injectors, running the turbo at roughly 22psi. Yes the engine will be built to handle accordingly. Anyways, the only bit of information i am missing, that i haven't been able to piece together through the magic search button on my own is the wastegate size. I have my eye on a turbosmart 38mm ultragate. will that particular wastegate be enough to vent off excessive gasses? or should i go a bit larger. I want to prevent creeping as much as i can while keeping this as absolute simple as possible. Thank you for your help and i apologise for the excessive info, i just wanted to cover all my bases.
Thanks again, Chuck.

You have two things to contend with;

1) Will a 38mm bypass enough exhaust gasses to keep boost under control. I run a Tial MVS with my HX35 and had a t3/t04e. It did and does a fine job and I could run boost as low as I wanted to.

2) Is the manifold designed well so flow through the gate is maximized. What I mean is, does the exhaust have to make a 180 degree turn to get to the wastegate? If it's not an efficient and good flowing pathway, you will have boost control problems.

I know absolutely nothing about your turbo of choice or manifold but these are the two critical factors.
