ok fellas this is gonna be a first for the rb25det ecu's.

I've done some research and have found that the rb20's and rb26's have available eprom chips by the following company

http://www.powerchipgroup.comhttp://www ... om...p.htm

NOW, i know this is painful but i think i found a guy that can chip our rb25det's with a base map then we'd have to invest into getting a eprom chip burner usually $10-$120. I'll have pics and info to this website after this evening. I have to pull my ecu take pics but i'm sure we can stick a 28pin eprom in there. Hold question and comments untill tomorrow

ok here are the internals of the pics for the rb25det. Now i've seen other emproms and they sure as hell don't look like this. This seems to be a pin grid array (PGA) others i've seen use a dual inline package (DIP) chip.

i have to take pics again. File is too big to put up.

here's the step by step for the rb20det eprom install.

It's looking grave for the rb25det as it seems that there is no EPROM for us. Damn it.

Hopefully it works cuz I don't want a spend a ****load for a Power FC. The biggest investment here will be the laptop for me lol. If it works no FC for me cuz this looks just as good? Never farted with the FC anyone have any reviews with tuning?

aparently it gets done but i now know what were dealing with for the rb25det. We have to get an 84 PIN PLCC SOCKET AND CHIP plus an eprom burner for it. Should be total around $300.

http://www.grid.co.jp/en/prod/prod6.htm

these guys do the rb25det as well. But it's gonna be a pain to try and find a chip burner for this plcc chip.

That is exactly how an RB20 ecu is (identical to vg ecu's) However, doing the rb25 would be like soldering in a pentium processor, you wouldn't wanna do it.

The concept of putting a chip on the board is easy to understand.

What I'm curious about, is the software we would be working with.

I'll probably go this route if there's avaliable software with good functionality for tuning.

ok people it's not definite but this is what i see soo far. Rb20det and RB26DETT are chipable with the above mentioned companies or you can chip it yourself for a very inexpensive price. There are a few people that i know that can do it this guy for instance.

http://www.xenocron.com

By the way the kit is $25(do it yourself kit) or i think total is $45 for install and EPROM package. The EPROM burners are the expensive part usually $25-$170 depending on cable type wether it be USB or SERIAL port. Can easily find on ebay then of course there's the Tuning part wich requires a wide band or dyno and someone who know's how to do the numbers.

He usually does honda's but since we have the same EPROM the 28pin DIP he can solder in the ZIF(zero insertion force) socket. It's very inexpensive and i'm sure goofynick can point you in the right direction for the SOFTWARE.

I'm still waiting for the response from japan to see if they can do it for us RB25DET but it's not looking too good. Also, seems very expensive to do the rb25det. Sucks to be us. I'm going standalone F--K IT!!!!!!!!!!

That's the thing, I don't think rb25's use a 28 pin eprom, you sent me a pic of your ecu and there was just the 84 chip, so I don't think it's doable w/o adding in a daughter board like on an SR, and that's a lot more work.

Finally an answer back from GRID in japan. To eprom or eeprom an rb25det it will cost $535usd. Now they don't do it directly cause they don't do the rb25det ecu them selves just the rb20 and 26's. So another smaller company in australia does it and they are

http://www.yoshidashouten.com.au

So ends the quest for the supplied info for above. So if you say screw the standalone and chip this ecu it's far more inexpensive and tunable all the same.

PowerFC is about $900 on ebay and after you buy everything to tune that eprom with, the powerfc will be just a tad more expensive, but it will be loads and loads better/easier to use.

just wanted to bring this back up and see if any other info came out of the eprom tuning? the powerfc is getting cheaper so id think the eprom option would be cheaper also. anyone using it? is it avail in the states?

Currently i have a emanage and dont want to use it so id like another alternative.

for the rb25 the pfc is still the only good cheap solution, the 20 and 26 guys can use eproms tho.

BTW anyone local to GA need chipping of their RB ECU just contact me and we can make it happen
