I took my car into the dealership this past weekend at around 55k and found out that I was 48 months and FOUR DAYS past my in-service date. In a panic, I let the dealer do the free inspection, got an exception, and purchased a 36mo /36k Infiniti Elite Extended Protection Plan at some ridiculous price over 3000 after taxes.

I have 60 days to cancel for a full refund and I know about Courtney and Daniella and plan to contact them both for price comparisons, but I noticed this interesting fine print on the bottom of my price sheet that reads:
Retail rates have been filed with the State of Florida Insurance Commissioner. Florida retailers are advised that Nissan Extended Services North America, Inc. cannot accept applications for contracts sold to owners at retail prices different from those published in this Inifiniti Elite Extended Protection Plan Florida Retail Rate Guid effective April 1, 2010. Refer to Service Contracts Bulletin ISCB/10-03 for more details regarding Florida compliance requirements
What this says to me and what other local dealers have told me is that the prices for Elite Protection are fixed. Now maybe that is just here in FL, but I don't understand how it is that others are able to offer equal protection for so much less money. If I can do it and be fully covered nationwide and it's all legit, I'll cancel in a heartbeat and even spend the $150 or whatever it is to get reinspected. I just want to be sure that when I go to my local dealer, they don't look at me crazy and stick me with a bill in the event anything goes wrong.

Anyone have any insight?

I'm in the process of buying from Daniella right now.

Be warned that there is a 30 day waiting period for approval (which I did not know about). I was planning to get my 60k service done this week and some of the TSB stuff that I was getting the Elite for (among other things) but she told me I'd have to wait 30 days so that all went out the window.

I also worked with Daniella when I purchased my Elite Extended Protection plan last year. Very good experience.

It looks like you all live up north in Circle Infiniti's general region. My biggest concern is the part in quotes about the Florida Insurance Commision & fixed pricing?

It just seems odd to me that the price would be locked in for JUST the state of Florida..if the plan you bought is already accepted at your local dealer, then I would stick with it..just my opinion..sucks if you could've gotten it cheaper, but the convenience of being able to go to ur local dealer, I feel, makes it worth it..not sure if that helps..sorry if it doesn't

I understand what you're saying. I'll call Daniella back again and see what she says. Hopefully she answers the phone today. I'm tentatively covered under the plan purchased by my local dealer (pending my 30-day approval, I guess), but there's still plenty of time to cancel if I find out some good news (like saving over a thousand dollars, for example)

Update: She answered the phone today (got no answer to phone call or email when I tried earlier in the week so maybe she had some time off)

The prices ARE fixed in the state of Florida. That statement is true, so no dealer in Florida could offer me a different price than what is printed on that price sheet I have.

The good news (and what I had hoped and expected) is that I could purchase the same Elite Extended Warranty from any dealer in the country and it is honored at any Infiniti Dealership.

She quoted me 2149 (not sure if I have to pay tax out of state) vs my dealer price of 2929+tax which came out to 3104 and change. This is 3yr/36k miles on a 07M35 Sport currently @ ~56k. Her price is good until April 1st.

My new mission is to find out how to cancel my current policy ASAP and if doing so forfeits my right to purchase a new policy for some amount of time.

Update: After impatiently waiting for over a week, I called the Infiniti dealer today and was informed that it would take 4-6 weeks for a cancellation & subsequent refund. Luckily I'm not that close to 60k and don't drive much. I'll be living on the edge, dependent on Nissan/Infiniti quality for the next few weeks, it seems, because I'm not putting that money up again until I get back what I already paid.

Now, unfortunately, I have to be patient with those H.Techs I have on the way

nice to hear you can save some $$ but question to the group. are we driving Nissan products or Audi's? these things should run forever not dies the day the warranty expires.

Technically no. I was told inspection price is ~$150 but that particular dealership waived the fee only if a warranty was purchased at that location. According to the Florida insurance commission, they can't change the price of the warranty, so I guess that's their only leverage to attract out of warranty customers to buy.

I've learned over the years that no manufacturer is without its issues. I saw the bill when my A/V brain started acting up and was thankful I didn't have to come out of pocket for that one. Other than that I've had my driver's headlight replaced (bad motor), sunroof shade assembly, both side mirrors (motor would get stuck), and a ISB for my fuel not filling all the way.

It may run forever, but those types of annoyances are so much less of a pain when you can just tell them what's wrong, drop the car off, take your loaner and not have to worry about how much money you're about to get raped out of when you get back.

What he said.

I had my driver side memory seat motor replaced (wasn't going back to my pre-defined position) when I first got the car and the bill was like $1,400. I just paid $1,600 for the Elite so if something remotely (maybe pass side) happens again...I'm only out $100 deductible.

If that's the Circle Infiniti number (also infinitiwarranty.net), her name is Daniella.

If not... never mind me

Thanks for the suggestion to contact Danielle at Circle Infiniti. I got a quote from her on my 2007 M45 Sport with 48100 miles for 4 years/48,000 additional miles at $1,891.00. This is with the $100.00 deductible. This beat Scottsdale's price by a significant amount, and no inspection was required, unlike the Scottsdale dealer. Sent off the paperwork, as my 4 years of warranty run out March 9th and I want the peace of mind. I plan on keeping this car for a long time and figure the warranty is worth it.

Folks, in your experience what is the reliability of the M45 after say 65-70k miles?

I have a 2006 M45 with about 5k miles and about 3 months left on the elite warranty. Except for a few warranty fixes 2-3 years ago the car has been completely trouble free. The only thing I do is to take it in for oil changes and new tires. I am trying to decide if I should purchase an additional 3yr/36k mile warranty.

Thanks for any feedback

Yet another update:
Actually there is none. 4-6 weeks is long gone and for some reason the sales rep that I dealt with at Infiniti of Coconut Creek is either never at work or isn't available. I call, get the receptionist, ask specifically for him, she says he's there and I get voicemail. I ask for anyone else who may be available, still voicemail. I caught him on the weekend once but he claims he can only find the status during the week. I got my warranty booklet in the mail weeks ago, but still no refund despite submitting my cancellation within a week of initial purchase. It is now April and I'm sure Circle Infiniti's Warranty prices have gone up. Fortunately I'm still a couple thousand away from 60k.

IOCC service department is the best I've ever experienced, but now I know I'll never finance a car through their finance dept. It's ridiculous that it takes 2 seconds to swipe my credit card and going on 2 months now and I still haven't seen my money back
