In light of my rock chipped, burnt out and poor light output Walmart foglights, I decided to buy a set on eBay and see how they perform. They are OEM replicas. Pics are below:

Image
Comes with wire harness, OEM look foglight switch, zipties and instructions

Image
Flat beam pattern. These are actual fog lights, compared to the driving lights from the Walmart thread

Image
Button lights up when on, looks nice

I will be installing them soon and will post pictures. I know of one problem I am going to run into. Trying to get the harness thru the firewall.

$99

Installation done. This kit comes with OEM plastic shrouds. The fogs don't fit the best. They mount with a screw and they will hold tight but the shroud does not sit flush up against the foglight. There is a slight gap where water and dirt will accumulate. Will take better pictures later. Also, the button does not fit on the dash where the blank button sits. It is too big to fit the opening

i saw these on ebay but was not sure if they would fit in factory wiring harness. my versa is prewired. are the bulbs for these h8? how are the quality of the housings? i bought a couple of oem housings came from china. they wound up melting from even regular bulbs. thought at first it was from set of silver star bulbs but put a set of regular bulbs in and still see them start smoking after a while of use. done buying from china. have you had any problems with these smoking?

Oh sorry. Didn't look at how old the thread was. Lol. Do they use the h8 bulb?

Its not an H3, thats for sure, although conventional foglight bulbs are H3. these ones are longer and have a 90 degree bend in the connector, more like an H1 I suppose. I took some better pictures of the final installed product:

Image
OEM foglight covers with the aftermarket lamp. Not that bad of a fit, now that I think of it. Slight gap between the lamp and the cover. Not sure how the OEM fits, need to look at one to compare

Image
And it turns out the button fits! Very well I might add. I didn't think to insert the button the same way the blank button came out...duh

Image
Last shot with the light pattern. Even, unlike my attempt with the Walmart fogs.

In conclusion, for $99 ($40 shipping tho), not bad, expecially if you cannot afford the OEM set. I wish the plug for the bulb was more secure. A simple twist and the bulb will fall out. Not sure why a bump clip wasn't part of the design to hold it in place. Time will tell how well these ones perform. Rainy season is upon us in Vancouver so they'll get a good test this Winter.

The versa oem wiring harness is for h8 bulbs. I've heard that it is a odd bulb size.

If these are h8 bulbs then I may get them just for housings depending on quality. Nissan wants 147 a piece for housings. So this would be like getting 2 for the price of 1.

It came with OEM ones. I've been calling them housings or shrouds, but yeah, comes with OEM ones.

Thanks man. Its a good buy, i recommend it because the OEM ones are so expensive. These ones give you the OEM look for a fraction of the price. A stand alone button is also a bonus for when you want the fogs on but not the headlights.

the small gap from lense to finisher is normal. Mine have it even though I cut my finishers.

They look good. The spare set of foglamps I have in the garage have H11 bulbs (blue label and 90° connector). I think they are the same I have in the car right now.

It was fine. Got the fogs in, ran the wire to the fogs and then back thru the firewall and into the switch where my dash is. Very standard and easy to understand.

The instructions say to wire it directly to the battery. However, if you do that you will have to turn it off everytime you exit the car or else it will stay on forever. Instead, I have power hooked to a power source that only comes on when the key is in the ignition. That way, it will turn on when I start the car and turn off when I turn off the car.

the fuse box in front of your left knee when you're in the driver seat. There is an accessory fuse there. I used an add-a-circuit there for switched power.

I just hooked the same kit up over Thanksgiving. I used the radio fuse. Everything works great. Just an FYI, I tried to take off the plastic cover off under the engine to run the wire loom behind the bumper but I gave up. Couldn't get it off. I lengthened the wires and run them up in the frame in front of the radiator around the hood latch. A few zip ties took care of keeping them off the radiator and tucked away. Tied everything together with zip ties to the wire harness by the right hand hood hinge, near the battery. From there ran the switch wires and positive thru the fire wall and reconnected everything inside the car. Note you'll have to add about 2 ft to each wire including the passenger side fog light wires and the wires thru the fire wall if you run it like I did. The switch blank is a pain to get off. You need to work at it. It slides out towards the front of the car. Insert the new switch from the back towards the rear of the car. It fits perfectly and snaps into place. It helps to take out the mirror switch and you can see what you got. Push on the top of the mirror switch and work it out to towards the front of the car. Don't force things, they'll come out eventually. Good luck.

i just found out yesterday that h11 bulbs are interchangeable with h8 bulbs. so this kits housings will also work in the prewired versas. I may be getting them soon because 100 for 2 housings is a lot better than 147 a piece at the dealer. i already have the oem switch, which is about 100 at nissan. so for 200 you can have a set that would cost over 400 at nissan.

Sorry, haven't been able to get back to you before. Yes, I used the radio fuse. The add-a-circuit pops into the radio fuse slot. It has two slots for fuses - one for the original radio and one for the new circuit. The blank has tabs you have to squeeze until it pops out.

so u put the radio fuse into the add-a-circuit and then for the fog light fuse how many amps did u use?

I could only find a 10 amp add-a-circuit and the radio fuse is 10 amp anyway, so I used that. Seems to work fine.

so do u use 2 10 amp fuse or just one for both the fogs and radio? or one for each?
