Not to sound rude or like a newb but why has the price increased and will the price ever go lower?

PRice of what? The NICO ECU has always been $250 IIRC. The JWT one is just outrageously overpriced. Then again, just about all of their products are.

The very first few NICO ECU's that were made years ago were cheaper. Those fortunate to get in on the first batches lucked out that Robert was willing to take a loss on these to help us out. If you calculate all the research time in addition to the actual modification time he spent setting this up the cost would be huge for these ECU's. $250 is a bargain for this service. If it makes the $250 easier to swallow, I'll mod and program an ECU for you for the bargain price of $1000....any takers? (I'll split it with you Wes )

How about "a la cart"Chip removal, socket install $100Increase speed limiter $29.95Increase rev limiter $39.95Timing advance $49.95VTC RPM adjust $29.95Fuel Map tune $49.95Owned ricer in the other lane.....priceless!

Hi Drew,

I'm very eager to get a NICO ECU and would love to take you up on your offer of a 90-93 ECU that you will ship to Wes. Please let me know how to proceed.

all the guys who emailed me im waiting responses on..

The reason that I chose $250 is that when robert was doing them depending on what options people got changed the price.. So i would make some money on some and not so much on others...

I am not going to lower the price to be fair to the vast majority of people who have already purchased them at that price. you are getting a bargain, so you can play in my sandbox or go play in an inferior one for more money..

Not to mention my customer support is 2nd to none!...

Shane as the right idea, however of course with a la carte everything becomes more expensive. So you can take the $50 dinner or go for the $20 buffet, you choose!!

No, single mode was originally $125.

JWT actually does the research and testing so their products do what they advertise. Few others do, so the JWT ends up being a bargain. Bet they only sold 200 G50 ECU, probably 75 TCU. They lost money at the prices they were charging.

No, not at all.

First, if you read the previous threads (RobertsnewQ), you will realize that the NICO maps are variations and hopefully optimizations of the JWT, Impul, and JDM ECU. Most believe the NICO map is superior, but never measured on a bench dyanamometer. Robert did most of his development with an exhaust analyzer. Dinan also made some early ECU, but only Q45tech has one as far as I know. All the rest are garbage.

I don't think Wes has changed any of Robert's mappings.

You really need to do some more reading then you will not post such short sighted and inaccurate information.

ACtually, most of this is wrong...

My map which robert made FROM SCRATCH was done on a dyno, which is why we made 30HP which is what we claimed (240WHP before, 270WHP after, on the same dyno)... Theres no other improvements that can be made without sacrificing something. you could probably make another 10HP on 100 octane....

The only thing we "stole" from another map was the stock JDM map has a slightly better idle map than the US, possibly because of the lack of precats. Whatever the case is, generally speaking on a perfect car the NICO ECU will cause the car to idle better and have more HP.

With all due respect, I do have emails from Robert in which he refers to the results of the exhaust gas analyzer and howhe employed it. I am sure the final results were verified on a dynamometer, but he would be so far in the hole if he had used one exclusively for development of the maps I would fear for his future financial security. And yes, he did analyze the various maps to which I referred and his variations thereof. He did develop his own mappings, which is also what I said. He was even so kind as to send me spreadsheets of one of the mappings. So I'll stand by my original statement, which you rather confirm than refute by your comment, other the statement of the degree of dyanamometer development.

It might help for future searchers is the correct contraction of "Who is" rather than than the incorrect possessive pronoun "Whose." Someday English education may return to the American classroom, I hope.

Is this the proverbial pot calling the kettle black?

I don't aim to be a nitpicker, but I have a a terrible condition which causes me to point out hypocrisy and contradictions.

I find the irony of the situation a bit humorous.

It seems that Brian is quite the stickler for grammatical precision, yet is oblivious to the glaring errors in this post and others.

Oh well. Sorry to interrupt. Carry on.

Are your QECU skills an ongoing thing or do I need to take advantage of this ASAP for the coolness of the W-Q-ECU? I need a few other things first, such as fuel pump.

Yeah, the upgraded ECU are no good unless the car and engine systems are operating as new.

Yeah, that doesn't answer my question if the only way to take advantage of this is now. Alot of people on here are really good at annoyingly throwing tidbits out there that answer nothing and re-iterate common mechanical knowledge to those who don't need it.

Hey, you're the one driving around with the failing fuel pump!

For those who are considering this upgrade its worth every penny. I recently had the stage-3 done and its a night and day difference. 2nd and 3rd gears pull way harder and the 7400rpm rev-limiter is ohh so sweet.
