I'm getting ready to change spark plugs and do a transmission flush on my 2008 g37s which has about 77k. I have done plugs before (civic and neon) but have not done a flush or taken off the engine cover on this car yet. I have the owners manual so I know what specs to get for the items and have read some "how to" and seen a vid our two, I'm just wondering are there any lessons learned or maybe which brands are better. I bought the car about 3000 miles ago, anything else I should look into changing, the oil has been done also?
Thanks in advance

You can go through the FSM which would walk you though most of it.....http://infinitig37.com/2008-Infiniti-G37-Coupe-FSM.html

I would not change the plugs away from factory as I've heard of too many people who have had issues trying to use different plugs or so-called high performance plugs. For the transmission, assuming automatic, use NISSAN Matic J ATF only. I'd suggest you refer to your Owners Manual for more details on fluids and specifications (sections 8 and 9). If you don't have them then you can download the pdf's via the above website as well.

I'll be replacing my plugs and belt within the next two weeks as well. Looks relatively "painless". Don't use anti-seize on the plugs.

The car is actually a manual and I'm getting a bit of "clunking" when I shift, felt through the gearbox. Basically don't sway from the owners manual.
Thank you

I usually take "transmission flush" to be an auto.

Yes, use the suggested Infiniti plugs and fluids and you should be fine.

Yeah my friends who do a lot of DIY work on their cars were saying the same thing. Sorry for the confusion. Well all in all, I did not do my spark plugs, not enough money to get that done. I did do my transmission fluid change, which was a lot easier then I thought. While I had the car at the skill center, I also tried to finish my parking light led swap. Low and behold after I peeled the wheel well away I noticed the previous owner somehow broke the back end of the driver side receptacle. Where the green and yellow wires connect. I have looked online for just the receptacle but can only find the entire harness or the headlight as a whole. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

And after I looked at the FSM that you gave me, thanks by the way; now I cannot see every exploded view but I believe it was number 12 for the parking light socket. With this info can I ask the dealership for a specific numbered item?

The dealership should be able to reference that in FAST for a part number. Print off the exploded view and point out the part you need.

Oh man I thought I got back to this. The fluid change went rather well but I didn't do the spark plugs yet. I do want to thank you audtatious for the FSM. I have used it a bit for my light issue I was having. I got a new harness to take care of it.

Plugs are easy. Remove the engine cover, Disconnect the intake system, remove the TB's (don't disconnect the TB's, just move them to the side), replace one plug at a time by pulling the coil (10mm bolt I think) and swapping the plug. Reverse order for reassembly.

Spark plugs are 14mm. Make sure to get a thin-walled deep socket as the cylinders are very tight. I actually had to get a regualr deep well socket as a spark plug socket was too big.

As for the transmission flush, what fluid did you use? I did my flush when I first got my G at 30k miles and used AMSOIL 75W90 GL-4 synthetic oil. That worked great! I did the flush again at 60k miles, but this time used Motul Gear 300LS 75W90 and my transmission has been very notchy. I'm at 78k miles now and just got a completely new transmission and had the shop put in Motul Gear 300LS again, but this weekend I'm going to flush it for Redline MT90 (2/3) mixed with MTL (1/3) as it is still notchy shifting through gears. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Motul Gear 300LS is not very compatible with our tranny.

My usual deep well socket worked ok and I used my magnetic pickup tool to remove the plugs. I have pictures and need to do a hot-to writeup for infinitig37.com one of these days.

I don't do my own fluid changes anymore and let Infiniti do it for me, thus, I'm using their recommended fluid/brand. I flush at 60k intervals and change the rear-diff around the same time. Usually I don't have to do more than one since I rarely keep vehicles past 100k anymore. My '08 has just broken the 80k mark and I'm putting most miles on the Q50 now in order to get the G to last until I can see what the replacement Q60 will be.
