One of my fog lights are shattered  I am thinking about putting in some Dually D2's. I know there will be some modding involved so I am wondering if anybody else has done it before? What are some lights that do fit in the hole? I could just replace the light and put HID's in them but I am wanting something different like maybe projectors with the plastic body over them to protect the aspheric lens from the millions of rocks we put on our roads in the winter. What are your favorite options?

Don't put in HID's in the fog lights. Its stupid and it makes you an A**hole to other drivers. I have Hoen yellow bulbs in mine and it does well with them.

Thats what I was thinking but with that standard low power bulbs the lights are pretty much useless... unless your going 10kph. I am trying to find a mold from another cars fog lights that I could put around my hole to hide the cut lines when I put the D2's down there.

Explain how theyre useless.... The fogs on my Rogue do just fine. Fogs are not supposed to light up the road thats not their purpose. They provide foreground light only. Driving down the open road with lows and fogs actually limits your distance vision so you really shouldnt be driving with them anyway... And adding HIDs to them compounds that problem because now you have much much brighter light directly in front of the car so distance vision gets a kick in the nuts. . On top of HIDs in fogs hindering your vision at night, the glare from the fogs will blind oncoming drivers. Fogs should be halogen only... And they are only useful in very rainy conditions or offroad or on bumpy streets to see bumps closer to the car at low speeds. I urge you to rethink this strategy.

There are useless because they only light up 10' of road in front of you. Whether they were made to do JUST that or not is irrelevant, for ME that makes them useless.
The D2's driving beam is very focused and will be properly aimed to NOT blind oncoming drivers.

So basically what youre saying is that you have an unrealistic expectation of how fog lamps are supposed to perform. Gotcha.

And fyi, "glare" has nothing to do with aiming.

Troll? You start a thread asking for peoples opinions about "fog options" and i give you mine backed up with factual information, and just because it differs from your idea im a troll? Whatever floats your boat brother. Heres a word of advice... In your future threads, to prevent anyone from actually providing you with helpful information which youre obviously not looking for, you should specify that what youre looking for are not actually "opinions", but for people to read about your silly and dangerous ideas and say "dude youre cool".

I was just trying to help. Peace out.

I may be a bit off, but I think the effect 300winmag is trying to achieve is akin to a pencil beam lamp.
Pencil beam lamps are more properly called "driving lights", not fog lamps. These are intended to supplement long distance vision in clear weather. They should be mounted above the bumper, aimed straight forward and either dead level or slightly downward (never to the left). Like headlights, the top of the beam should be no higher than level with the road so not to blind oncoming drivers. They will light the road straight ahead only, nothing to the sides at all. Using them in foggy conditions is counterproductive, as they will produce more glare and probably reduce vision.
Do you really think replacing the Halogen H8 35watt with an HID D2S 35watt will accomplish this? For that matter, what are the legal restrictions in Canada in regards to type of bulb and wattage permitted? Also, you may find the RCMP have a dim view of your HID fog lights.

Exactly when did I say I needed fog lamps? I asked for different options ie, something different. If you cant read that's your problem. Off with you troll.

Rogue One
That is exactly what I am trying to achive. The D2's are not HID, they use focused LED's. The driving beam of the D2's would be perfect for it. A lot of vehicles around here use them and I must say they do a damn good job.

Lol.... You know its real easy to be a tough guy on the internet... Just for that, I'm going to again, point out how silly and dangerous your idea is...

You are talking about these right? Image

Be honest and ask yourself, Does this REALLY look "Focused"?

Look on any car forum (I posted a link to one above)... These are for OFF ROAD USE ONLY! As you can see in the pics I've just posted, they are not "focused"... They will shine right in the eyes of any oncoming driver and that is DANGEROUS... Even moreso than HIDs in factory fog lamps... Again, this is a stupid idea to use on the road because you are basically not caring about any other driver and you WILL blind them.

Take the toughness down a notch and try to be a little more sensible with your mods OP. When someone tries to help you, attacking them does not get you anywhere.

PS: those LED modules are anything BUT focused. THEY ARE "FLOOD" LIGHT - meaning unfocused. they have a 360 degree reflector bowl without any light restricter plate the way a projector would. they will blast light like a flashlight, in a circular pattern.

I think you need to go back and re read who the tough guy was. I explained to you why my fog light are usless to.... ME. Then your smart a$$ attitude came out.

These pictures are meant to show the output of the lamp, they are not properly aimed nor that bright. Long exposure does a lot for a pic. Aaaand when did I say I was going to be driving around town with these on? I'm not an idiot who goes around blinding other drivers for the cool factor.

Fyi both people that helped me in this forum did not have a smug attitude and guess what? They're not ranting like a child.

Whatever makes you feel better. I'll listen to ImStricken and stay on topic... If you visit HIDPlanet.com, you will find plenty of useful information about different types of fog lamp setups as well as first hand experience with different types of lighting. The best type of fog light for you would be projector fogs from Blazer or even the Ford Fusion. Those can be used on the road and actually do have a focused beam that throws longer than our OEM fogs. If you were looking for opinions on OFF ROAD lighting setups, ie. Dually D2s, then there are a plethora of other options out there for you as well. And yes, for OFF ROAD use, the D2s will perform well.

i saw them first hand. they are in fact VERY bright, and blinding. the key here is finding a set that is made for a "Driving Pattern" of light.
there are 4 types: spot, flood, driving, wide. not gonna lie, these things are awesome if used as foglights. they are insanely bright.

I agree they would be great for off-road/emergency lights... But even the ones named "Driving lights" are not to be used on road from what I've seen. The pic with the ATV in my post above is the one named "Driving lights".... At best they can be used in conjunction with high beams on an empty open road but not where there is oncoming traffic. And the argument that they can be aimed "properly" as to not shine in others' eyes can be made, maybe... But you'd have to aim them so low that you would still only be lighting 10' in front of the vehicle with them anyway, so its the same affect as putting HIDs in your OEM fogs as far as usable light is concerned.

This is a vid of the driving lights:

ImStricken, please post pics of these mounted on your front bumper if you do get them to use as off-road/emergency lights... I'd love to see what that looks like! What surgery are you getting done? Shoulder?

Dude that's rough! Had a torn shoulder tendon repaired a few years ago. Re-anchored it in four spots, trimmed down some bone spurs and removed some of the scapula. Lost some mobility, but i can use my arm again. A word to the wise, heed your surgeons advice and allow yourself plenty of time to heal. Also find a good physical therapist, it will help with the recovery and healing process.

i hear these are a doozy to get over. (bones grow, muscles grow, but cartridge and such doesn't - so healing time is longer than with others)

Yeah that is rough. But I second what Rogue One said... Physical Therapy is amazing. I'm in PT right now for my back. Injured on the job... I also did PT a couple months ago when I sprained my left ankle something aweful. PT is very helpful.
