So I got some vinyl this pass weekend, and was bored so decided to change up my dash board a little bit as well the two trim pieces on the steering wheel as well. It was my first time working with this stuff, but after enough research and what not I got the basic idea on how to do it.

So enjoy everyone, it was my first time but i think it turned out good.

It was a pain taking this apart, especially this cubby part, it was really annoying.

Don't mind the extra silver part still showing, i fix it afterwards.

Left over vinyl so decided to do my key fob.

First time doing this kind of work hope you all enjoyed the pictures, might do some more to the interior not sure yet, any ideas anyone?

Looks good, the overhead map light area is always another place. I didn't have to take my panels off since I got the real CF kit.

i originally wanted to do that but i ended up not having enough vinyl left over so that'll be another project for the future. but thanks, hopefully i can get better at it and perhaps do my trunk, hood, and roof later on.

Where did you get the real carbon fiber kit? Do you have pictures of it?

Thanks

I got it from carID.com. There are a couple of pics in the interior section under dash kits. I'll see if I can post more pics.

I bought one that was 48"x12" on ebay for about $8, was jsut tyring something out and didnt wanna go crazy on pricing and this was the cheapest and its looks good, and i got it from an ebay seller metro restyling.

Yes, i did have to use a heat gun, but be careful not to heat it up to much or else it would lose it stickiness, i had to use some 3m super77 spray to get it to stick and stay. All i say is that it takes some patience and practice.

I started off with the straightest piece first then worked my way up to the more complex curves. Use a very sharp knife, i recommend Xacto, and just go slow with it. Stretch when u need to with the heat gun and wrap it to the back part of the piece so it stays.

Over all it was a learning experience, i might change it up to a different color scheme, jsut not sure what yet. My next project would probably be my doors and changing up the fabric inside.

Nice job when you need to replace this vinyl let me know and I can hook you up with some carbon fiber vinyl that has a little bit of a longer life.

Looks great though you did a very nice job :mike

thank you thank you, means alot coming form someone who runs a business doing vinyl, i jsut wanted to play around with the material first before i get the good stuff, all i have to say is that the curves and rounds parts are a pain in the a$$ like no other, but it was a learning experience.

I might change it up to do white cf instead to match my car, and thinking of other places in the interior i could possible do as well, already got a few ideas where. =]

on a scale 1-10 and being first time user i say about a 6-7, only cuz i did some prep work, taking apart the interior and being sure to get ride of creases in the curves area. but get cheap vinyl first then once you get the hang of it get the better stuff.

If you have interior parts you can ship them to me and I can wrap them and ship them back. Just not the cheaper way to do it. I could hook you up with some pretty good rates though. :mike

The white cf is so nice. I have I think a smaller sheet available becuase of my rims. Email me and I can check and see how much I can sell it for. It won't be bad since its a smaller sheet too.

:bigthumb: Looks good b88dragon! I especially like the steering wheel trim - I've hated that crappy looking plastic since the day I got the car and have been wanting to wrap it, but haven't messed with the steering wheel because of the air bag and electronics. Any chance that you can describe how you got that steering wheel trim off? I, and others as well I'm sure, would really appreciate it.

Good luck with re-wrapping it all! Looks killer.
