I have a 2010 that I bought used about a year & a half ago.
No major problems with it, but lately I have noticed that there is a green "KEY" indicator in the tach dial that occasionally shows up at start. (I believe it can show red also)
Sometimes it is steady green but I have seen it flash green on occasion.
I don't understand what the manual is telling me about this indicator.

What's up with this indicator?

means your key has been recognized. if its red = your key isnt recognized or too far from the sensors.

I thought that, but that doesn't explain why it doesn't show most of the time...or the blinking...does it?

as soon as you turn that key, it should light up. maybe you do it too fast sometimes and dont notice it?

Addendum

The other morning my key fob died and I was unable to open or start the car w/o using the key.
I got my backup fob and discovered it had barely enough juice to unlock the doors with the button in the handles.
It couldn't broadcast enough to unlock the doors with the button in the fob.
I started the car to go get some batteries and I noticed the green "key" symbol was flashing the way it sometimes did except this lasted for 5-6 minutes before it stopped.
It acted the same when I started for home later.
I put new batteries in both fobs and ...no flashing "key" symbol at all and everything works just fine.

I can't find any documentation on this but I can't help but wonder if the flashing "key" symbol was a warning that the fob battery was getting weak?
I had generally quit paying attention to the flashing symbol, but today, with the almost dead fob, it went crazy until I changed the battery.
Then it stopped.

Interesting huh?
