Dangerous Safety Concern in FX35

I got a pretty good scare yesterday while trying to park my 2005 FX35. I drove into a parking spot, stopped and while shifting the stick to Park, the car accelerated powerfully and launched forward despite my braking. I was only able to stop because there was a concrete planter in front of my parking spot. Had there been a person not a planter, I don't even want to imagine the results. This is potentially a hugely dangerous occurence and I wonder if anyone has experienced something similar?? Any suggestions or ideas welcome...
