D21 won't start again

Vehicle: 1987 D21 2WD Z24i engine auto trans

Okay, I've replaced the motor assembly with a brand new one because the protector cap at the end of the shaft fell off the housing and the gear engage wasn't working anymore.

I can get it to turn over (but not start) when I jump the battery to the motor side of the solenoid.

But all that happens when I turn the key is a soft click I hear from under the dash. Thoughts?

Ahh, nevermind. It was the damn fusible link. The silly black clip right off the positive battery terminal...

I didn't notice the door open dinger wasn't working until the last minute. I by-passed it and it worked! That should have been my first clue!
