There is something SERIOUSLY wrong if you are only getting 11mpg average.

Nothing wrong with it thats how it is if you only drive in the city. Stop and go every minute or so.

Yes driving in city probably makes my average so low. You guys drive a lot on the highway.

Yes, a lot of highway driving but when I first got the car the majority of the time I was driving in town 90% of the time and was still seeing, when stock, at least 17mpg. If there are extremely long lights or you take off like a bat outta hell then yes, it will be lower, but 11mpg is like viper (8 liter) territory. :gotme

Okay people...I'm starting to think you are all trolling each other and me.

I want pictures of the MPG history. Not the first screen. Pictures of the 'Fuel Economy Record'.

I can get 30mpg to if I just fill up and drive 30mph for a mile. I have a feeling that over a full tank, you guys are less than 30 and more in the mid-20's.

I'm not buying this 30mpg thing lol.

I have the newer 7 speed transmission. With an erratic right foot, the best mpg I've gotten was 24.3 with probably 30/70 city/highway driving. Over the past few fuel ups I'm averaging 20mpg with a roughly 50/50 city/highway split. If I took it easy on the gas pedal I'm sure I could increase the mpg a little bit, but I'm okay with wasting a little fuel to liven up my drive.

But when cruising, the engine is at 2500rpm doing 75mph in 7th gear. It's significantly lower than the older transmission.

Ran out and got a shot. Never looked at that screen before. What is the interval? I can see the really low ones and that was from I was doing some exhaust work, checking for leaks with the car idling for a really long time. The early ones are also from testing different maps and other little crap. Kind of neat to see this so I don't have to keep writing stuff down as long as I can figure out the interval. When on that screen I can not move over to highlight reset interval or latest. It just stays as it looks in the picture.

I think it's when it sees the capacity change (each fillup). So, if you have 200 miles left and it goes to 300, it knows to change. That's my guess.

If you reset gas mileage while its high it will show the graph at that level. So lets say you reset it at a high number multiple times your "history" will show high numbers. If anyone is trying to tune their car to get really good gas mileage it's not gona happen. You can get an improved fuel economy map but don't expect it to act like a four cylinder.

We need a scientific way to prove mileage. Do any of you use an smart phone app to track your mileage (using the real way of gallons/miles driven formula)?

I've already posted mine. I would expect you 'hyper milers' to be getting mid-20's (like 23-26) not 30+.

That 37MPG is s***, the person who took the pic even said so. He just took that pic after about a minute of resetting and not being on the gas hardly at all

The 28+ mpg is on highway driving only for that tank while on long trips, you cant get that high of mileage if you add city driving in.

I can't even get 24mpg 100% highway. I'm still not buying near 30's...lol. Unless you guys are following the speed limit and doing 65.

The gearing of this car, at 75mph, is impossible for fuel efficiency.

You have to remember though, the M35x has the highest gear ratio of all the M's. The M45 runs a 3.29 ratio, and 35x is at 3.69. That, combined with much colder air temps, and more hills on the roads makes east coast MPG much harder to come by than southern California MPG.

Going 65mph on the New Jersey Turnpike might just get you killed. It's like being a sitting duck

Yep. There, the unofficial speed limit is at least 80. I usually average 90 there.

I use Fuelly to track my miles. I don't drive much so I have a small sample size.

There seem to be several other M35 owners using Fuelly as well, here's a link to their numbers. http://www.fuelly.com/car/infiniti/m35

Based on that site, seems like I'm getting (when I try to be good) the same mileage as everyone else.

You people getting 30mpg must be pushing your half the time. Flintstone style. :roflmao

I have no mods to my 2008 M35 Sport with 88K miles. I average 18 - 20 city (Houston stop-n-go Traffic) and 23 - 25 highway.

Think of it this way. Many city trips are only a couple miles, but they can take 30 minutes or more to travel those 2 miles, depending upon traffic conditions. It's hard to get the average MPG to go up when you're burning fuel and not moving anywhere..

I have a stock, fully-loaded, M45X and I am not light on the accelerator. I have had my car for just under 5 years. My overall long-term average fuel consumption has been very consistent over that period. The average usage is about 14 litres/100 kms, which translates into about 20.2 mpg Imperial or 16.8 mpg US.

This is a long-term annual average covering both regular commuting and periodic long-distance highway travel and is the same today as when I first bought the car new. It includes both hot, summer weather and cold, sub-freezing winters. Most of my driving is a daily commute of 40 to 50 kms each way in heavy Toronto traffic, which is composed of about 50% on expressways and 50% on urban streets.

My mileage is obviously much better in summer weather on a long-haul highway trip of 400 kms (about 250 miles) or more. It is also much worse in a major snow storm that turns a typical 45 to 60 minute commute into a 2 hour or longer crawl home. Obviously conditions (weather, congestion, highway type) and the aggressiveness of the driver all have an impact, but it is ultimately the day-to-day fuel consumption that produces most of the results and absorbs most of my cash.

so my car has abt 95k miles with stock O2 plugs and i just did a trip to dc and back ~ 800 miles round trip and i'm getting around 21.6-22 MPG. i did swap out a new air filter before the trip so it might help?

anyhoo, i think the moral of the story is - m35x is not so good with normal city driving but decent on the highway. coming from the 1.8T, i can't stand the crappy 15-17mpg during the winter and 17-19mpg during the summer for city driving. however the car size is much more spacious and with all the amenities, i think it's a wash :)

I believe the 08+ menu is different. When I did my video input install to the oem screen, the module only worked for the 06-07 M35/M45. Also, I think I remember the dealer stating that the options on the oem screen on the 08+ are slightly different when I was on the search for my M.
