Just changed 3 of my 4 sensors (I did Sensor 2 Bank 1 and 2 and Sensor 1 Bank 2). We'll see if it gets any better over the next few days.

Also reset my ECU with my OBD-II scanner and reset my learned fuel curves in Cipher.

I will be driving in my 'ECO' map for the next week or so.

So I just took a trip from Albany, NY to East Stroudsburg, PA (Pocono's area) and for most of the trip there I averaged 20.2 or so. On the way home, I got it up to 21.1. This is using the info screen. I haven't calculated my actual MPG but will when I fill up today as my lights on.

I still don't get how you people are getting anything over 23-24MPG.

The only thing I can think of is that my "ECO" Tune from UpRev isn't "ECO" at all and is actually the stock tune or the power tune.

A few months ago I drove from NY to Boston and the entire time I was on the highway I was averaging between 24 - 26 mpg, based on the computer. I reset the fuel economy meter before I started the trip and checked it while I drove. My speed was between 70-75 mph. Of course once I returned home it got back to normal. I usually get pretty good mpg while on the highway, I don't think I get anywhere close to 30 mpg though.

I haven't done any uprev or anything else to the car since I purchased it.

So I just filled up. Actual MPG came out to 20.85 for my trip to the Pocono's and back (306 miles there and back).

That is BS. lol. I don't know how you people are getting almost 30 or more MPG.

I second that. My "37 MPG" came from 35 seconds of coasting downhill, no braking, no turning, no acceleration, no wind. It dropped substantially after that.

Living in a city, I take a short trip or two evert week, followed by a 240 mile round trip twice a month. I average 18-20 combined. :wtf2:

Had to run up to Santa Maria today, 170 miles each way. Car showed 29.5 MPG average when I pulled into the driveway. What RPM do the 35's spin at? At 72MPH I cruise at 2650. Driving up to San Jose on Wednesday so we'll see how a REALLY long haul does.

I don't know what it is at 72 off the top of my head, but my 35 does ~3,100 RPM at 79mph.

The gearing on this car is STUPID. I know they wanted to give people more 'passing power' or what not...but there should be NO REASON a car is doing 3k RPM at quicker interstate speeds. NO REASON.

The gearing and the MPG are the ONLY issues I have with this car. The rest of the car is beautiful inside and out. I knew the MPG wasn't great when I was looking to buy...but with people like you getting unexplainable mileage...frankly, I'm a bit pissed. :rotfl

What is power map or economy, what does this refer to?

If you get an UpRev tune (link), you get 5 maps (which are selectable by pushing a combination of buttons on the steering wheel).

Most people go with:

Map 1: Stock
Map 2: Performance
Map 3: Eco
Map 4: Valet (in my case, I had it set to 25mph and 2,500 RPM - if a Valet tries doing more than that it won't.)
Map 5: Anti-Theft (car sputters and acts like none of the cylinders are firing properly)

You would have to look at their site for a dealer near you. Or talk to them directly. I went the latter route. I purchased directly through them and they had me datalog once I got the product and then send the logs to them. Then, they used the information I sent them to create my maps and I uploaded them to my ECU myself. I work in IT and this was nothing new to me, but if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself you'll need to find a dealer near you.

The benefit of going to a dealer is some of them will throw in some dyno time and will tune the car more specifically. I'm waiting till I have an exhaust before I do this. My maps are pretty 'basic' based on the values they saw.

The trip up to San Jose was fun, 12 hours in the M in a day, LOL. 780 miles total, 98% highway, average MPG on the first fill up (started with about a 1/4 tank) was 26.7 mpg (this was a mix tank from the week before), then the next fill up was 29.7 MPG (the bulk of the San Jose trip). Zero traffic as we left LA at 2AM, cruise control on 72. Still have about a 5/8 tank left and the display is showing 28.4 MPG. So 780 HIGHWAY miles on about 26 gallons (about a tank and a half). Mileage probably would have been better if it weren't for all the damn bugs stuck to the front of the M!

WHAT. THE. F***.

Dean, you need to stop posting. You are pissing me off. :rotfl

I wouldn't get this kind of mileage if I rolled my car down a hill with the engine off. :rotflmao

How is the terrain? Is it hilly? Somewhat hilly (minor ups and downs in the highway)? Or flat as can be (Arizona desert)?

LOL!

Terrain is fairly flat, occasional hill and/or climb over a pass (and then back down).

In daily driving on surface streets I am lucky to break 16 with all the traffic stops for intersections, draw bridges, etc.
One draw bridge stop is like 10min so that kills your MPG on the screen. I'd turn the car off and save the MPG, but down here, that means no A/C and I'd rather stay comfy with the music blaring :)
On the freeway, I use cruise and I've found that dropping from 70 to about 67 the RPMs drop considerably (for a 3mph difference) getting me 25-26 MPG. On long trips from Miami to Maryland, that saves me a full tank of fuel for the price of getting to Maryland slightly later.

Today i averaged 29 mpg while crawling at 50mph 100% highway economy map but i cant stand it. If i go 70 mpg is same as perfomance map.

When I fill up my tank it displays distance to empty 268 mls

I have seen 24 mpg at about 70 mph in sport mode on the NJ Turnpike, I haven't tried econo mode yet.

since we're all enthusiasts here, i'm looking for most honest and reliable info. not some made up or wild claim. not calling anyone is a liar, just saying :-)

ok update on my last post....just took my daughter back for a total trip of 351.6 miles about 90% highway this time and ended up in a traffic jam in Binghamton NY for over an hour (car accident) and still ended up with a mileage of 22.189 mpg....i think that is good for me considering i had to take a different route and it was mostly hills...that was the other 10% of my driving...

If you let your speed drop off a bit when going up long hills instead of spending the gas to keep it going 80mph at all times then that saves a tiny bit. ALso if you accelerate and get up to 90-100mph on the downhills you can carry your momentum a lot better rather than either letting your car coast down or even worse braking when going downhill (like the cruise control does). That is just wasting gas right there.

I think these cars would do way better if they didnt the 5 speed transmission they have. RPMs with cruise on at 65 mph are way too high for good cruising fuel economy in my opinion.

I forgot to take a pic, but on the way to work when I was cruising at 85mph I was getting between 28-29 mpg. When I go in to work next week ill try and get a pic (or short video) to post here. Might be better mpg by then too, cause today I was extra heavy with a full tank of gas.
