I love space exploration and all that it teaches us but did anyone see the price tag for this mission? $2.5 billion. :ohno: That's a crap-ton of money to find out if the Mars' environment was ever favorable for microbial life. Especially since we know that NOW, it doesn't.

So amazing.

Curiosity's goal is also to study Mar's climate and geography and collect information for a manned mission.
First of it's kind! I think expanding our knowledge of our solar system and universe is priceless.

So, about a week of operations in the middle east? Small price to pay really.
I had this baby streaming on our maintenance board (60 inch plasma, overkill...whatever) I was amazed at how many people didn't know about the mission.

That $2.5 Billion was over what 8 years? Nasa's whole budget for a year is a joke compared to what we spend on DOD

Disregard my mis-informed former post. Shortly after I posted that, I watched the entire play-by-play of what it took to make it happen. Bring our boys home from the Middle East and use that money to fund more projects for NASA! That s*** was amazing.

This stuff makes me happier than anything else I can imagine. Space is our future. Progress happens a step at a time, and every step counts.

This stuff makes me smile. I feel like 1,000 years from now, there will be a timeline with some very bold hashmarks on it for things like this.

Go NASA! You guys are the best at what you do. Even though you didn't hire me during your MASSIVE recession, I still appreciate everything you do.
