Type: Coupe Midpipe

Brand: Inifiniti

Models: stock coupe

Pros: better sound, more HP and price

Cons: none

Bought at/Price: $40 used from craigslist

Comments: I really like the sound better. Much meaner and deeper at idle and through RPM band.

Yeah - I love having it, except between about 1,500 and 3,000 - sounds a bit distorted. Once you pass 3,000, sounds like the good ol' coupe/Z/FX.

i was told that the mid-pipe doesnt make that much of a difference in sound. but it is about 30 lbs lighter than what comes from the factory on the g35..im trying to get a mid pipe from the coupe from this guy who just upgraded his exhaust..has bout 25,000 miles on it..what should i pay for it?

You should expect to pay $50-100 for it.

It does make a difference in sound and is MUCH MUCH lighter.

05 G Sedan with coupe mid-pipe.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIF-GD-WaH8

I don't think there is a 30 pound difference though.

Did sound much better with the coupe mid-pipe!!!

I think 50 to 100 delivered is a good price for one.

And, I actually sold the Sedan mid-pipe on CL for 110 delivered!!!!

just installed my coupe mid pipe about 250 miles ago... i reset my ECU before i even left the shop.

top: sedan midpipebottom: coupe midpipe

Video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEOz-9DF-84

Now after 250 miles here are my impressions:

For sound alone its worth buying this pipe... at idle its not much different than the seden midpipe, but once you hit the mid and high rmps you hear that great g35 note loud and clear... There is no highway drone, but there is a nice burple/cough sound as the rmps drop below the mid range.

What I also noticed is a drop in low end pull, but the high end pull is much better (passing at highway speeds is nice when you get the G35 note as you do it) but this should be expected since the coupe midpipe is less restrictive... im hoping as the ECU relearns my driving style this will improve... as its still not shifting where i want it to yet in auto mode like it was before i reset my ECU.

Overall great mod

Update:

added video and now that the ECU has adjusted, the car feels normal on the low end.

the problem with a dual exhaust on the sedan is the fuel tank breather box thing...LOL. I can't think of the name of it...but its in the way. You have to route it somewhere else to go with a dual exhaust plus mods to the rear valence.
