I was just browsing FRSport.com and saw that they have Cosworth headgaskets available for RWD SRs. I've always loved Cosworth for the quality of motors they have produced over the decades. I'm hoping that they've carried that quality over to making a good, performance headgasket for the SR20. I'm just hoping that they're not hopping on the bandwagon and putting a headgasket out there to rake in a few bucks.

Anyone have any experience with them?

I've seen those too and was thinking about trying one on my next motor. I've checked out a few of those to see if they had that drivers rear rivet in the right spot on the side of the motor. Not like the Cometic's that point theirs to the rear and cause them to bend and leak. I'm dealing with it right now and it sucks.

Who wants to be the first to try out a new Headgasket brand? Not it!

For Cosworth, I'd be willing. Nitrile rubber coated, 3 layer headgasket? Beats the hell out of a lot of companies, and Cosworth has been around for longer than most people on these boards have been alive.

The name sounds really familiar but I'm too lazy to research it.

They are an F1 engine builder

Cosworth is also working on a 90mm application as well.

Cosworth also doesn't realize crappy projects. If anything, there were some genuine SR community people working on this project, and this is their end result.

I slept on it last night and I think I'm going to go ahead and get one of their headgaskets. I have never known Cosworth to put out something that was sub-par.

I did a quick google search and the reviews I read on this headgasket were very promising.

whoo-hoo! Please keep us apprised of the Cosworth HG and Mahle pistons during and after your build. I shouldn't have to (crosses fingers) rebuild my motor anytime soon and after wasting $$ on a piss poor shop install I want to do it myself and do it right on the rebuild. Plus, I'm interested in the best parts for my motor that are not overpriced.

Just ordered it this morning. Given that I have to wait on my crankshaft bearings for another week due to my local dealership being legally retarded, my build is still a few weeks out from being finished. On the bright side, with the bearings taking a little longer than I intended, I have the opportunity to rethink headgaskets

After the headgasket and bearings get here, nothing can stop that motor from going together.

I've only assembled the pistons and rods. Nothing too exciting. I can't do anything until my crankshaft bearings come in. Long story short on that is that I ordered them the Friday before New Years from my local dealer. They didn't bother to put the order in and strung me along by saying they should be in soon (the employees were too lazy to look into the system and see they were never ordered so they just said check next delivery day). I got pissed off at them and ordered the bearings from a dealer in Cleveland that was highly recommended to me. I'll have them on Monday. Until they get here, no progress can be made, so no pics

Also I need to borrow a ring grinder so I can regap the piston rings. Mahle leaves them at a tight gap so you can alter them to your specific application. So until my friend can remember to grab the grinder from the shop, I can't install the pistons.

Step 1: Don't hijack a mod's thread. He doesn't like it.

Step 2: Go download a service manual. It would surprise you that information like that is in a neat little book.

If step 2 doesn't work for you, try step 2b. Look in our SR FAQ sticky. There's a head removal how to in there.

step 3. re-read step 1, and dont you forget it now.

Ne ways, that definitely looks like a good quality gasket. I have been losely keeping my eye out for one but I will definitely keep an eye here. AKA: opinionz when complete pweeze!

Although a sr20det gasket isn't mentioned in this article, a comparison between the cosworth, cometic, and oem gasket is. The engine is obviously a 4g63 but I'd imagine the quality carries over from motor to motor.

Haha, I saw that this morning!

Eric's blog, and 'Da Truth' blog are the two best IMO in the car industry. I enjoy reading both.
