On our 1997 J30 the body has a special design to accommodate the stock jack that comes with the car. I wanted to use a floor jack to change some brake pads and just wanted to confirm if not using the jack with car and also putting a jack stand up while doing the job, can anyone tell me the best location to place this more flat type stand to do this without that U indention available? I do know a part is available to retrofit stands to then be similar to existing jack but did not want to have to buy them if possible. Thanks

The Jack points are on page GI-21 in the FSM.

Thanks for the help. :) In the diagram I take note to the spot in the middle under engine but also if you see, they recommend an additional adaptor part to place over the jack stand when supporting car. I was hoping not to have to purchase this. Can the stand be used a little more towards the middle of car right next to where those points are?

A Wooden or rubber block ??
That's a small section of a 2X4 or a chunk of rubber.
I have a section of rubber cut from a old tire.
Cost was Zero. :gapteeth:

So the old tire piece acts like a reception part for the design of the jack that comes with the car and holds no problems when placed on top of a flat jack stand? I thought I had to go and buy that piece they show on the page you recommended I check out that looks like an adaptor for this situation. No issues with the tire piece?

What I mean is I have it on top of the "Jackstand" under the car frame.
I use the oem Jack to get it up enough to put the stand under.

You must be talking about using a floor jack on the oem jack point.

Yes, correct. So get it up a bit with the stock jack and then use my floor jack on the spot under engine? And thank you very much for the help with this, really appreciate it. Daughter is driving car and has to be right. Thanks.

If your going to be Under the car at all you should use properly rated "Jack Stands"
I have ramps. so I usually just roll up the ramps and chock up the rear tires and get to work.

I also have the ramps but I want to work on the brakes so have the issue there. Will figure something out. When they change the tires at the shop, they put the lift underneath with no issues. Just need to figure out where a flat surface is that has support.

i usually jack under the differential if im jacking up the rear or on the frame rail towards the front. youll crush the pinch welds with a regular floor jack as you probably already know.

i swear the more and more i look at the J Ferie the more depressed i get. the U.S. J30 got all the lameness. friend and i were looking up parts from overseas and the Nissan Leopard J Ferie came with an electric jack stand that you plug into your cigarette lighter. boo U.S.

Have a 2 1/2 ton floor jack and can use this if necessary but same thing here, would use a block of wood because jack part that goes against car is not the biggest by any stretch. Sorry to labor this point and great pic swim shark, but if I just want to jack up one side and let the other rest on tires and then use the stock jack that came with car to get it up in the air, if I do not have the attachement or a piece of rubber or anything to compensate to put on my jack stands to fit into that grove along the bottom of the car, where would be safest place to put the jack stand? do you have a picture or can you give me a dimension or measurement like 3 inches here or there on frame side? Asking a lot, but just don't want to have it come crashing down. Thank you for all the help.

PS: my next question is going to be about the door locks, passenger side door and rear driver side door both do not open. Can use the keyless to get into car on other two doors but those just will not unlock.
