I know...I know, who would pay that? Well not me because I don't have that type of money. So here I offer you a low cost twin dvd head-rest solution:My set-up only cost $162. which I bought yesterday. Moreover, these are 9 inch screens! It is VERY basic bare bones stuff. No remote and only 1 side plays dvd. I did see one for $220 online where both screens play dvd's.
The main complaint that people said about this model is that there are wires everywhere. But with a little bit of ingenuity, you can make a fairly clean ghetto install.
Also, the beauty of the outlet being inside the center console is that you can use the proximity to your advantage to help hide the wires in the console and under your seat covers(needed). Make sure to run the wire through the handle of the top 1st container so it wont snag between the plastic inner edges.( use back handle hole so less noticeable when opening. You will be closing cover on top of wires.( I said ghetto ) Of course you can drill holes if your into that.
Only wire that shows is my aux cable. By plugging this in you get awesome theater llke surround sound. Way clearer than the radio stations. The player themselves get praised for the sound within the unit too.
If your into basic dvd function this is perfect, if you need more bells and whistles then this is not for you. I try to memorize the buttons so I can reach behind and change chapters. These units also begin movie (resume) where the ignition is turned off and on. Also I believe the DVD's start over again at end of the movie, I think I noticed it today while cleaning car.
As you can see in my pictures, thats not really too bad for the price (plastic still on cuz its new). And the added benefit, you still have the Nissan Rogue headrest unlike what this one person paid a Lexus dealer to install a Invision headrest DVD system on the last pictures. These system can go as high as $1699. It didn't even match and it was forward by 3 inches which was uncomfortable for the customer (safety risk). Some people suggested they get a system like mine on their forum. But eventually I think they got it right and the dealer replaced it. What a headache for them.9 Inch screens. SWEET! Well i never was into DVD in cars because of the price. So I am really new to this and very happy! Lowered/angled for better pix. This is for adding stereo sound, otherwise you would not see any wires on set-up. I unplug and stick hidden beside passenger seat when not in use.Same comfortable headrest!
Poor Lexus customer!
