Tighten the gas cap, read the diagnostic code then clear it:

If you get an 0455 code, then it's evaporative emissions related. Either a loose gas cap or a non-OEM locking gas cap was installed (these are notorious for producing CEL's). If the CEL does not return after clearing it, then don't worry.

If it does then it's something more serious. In my case, I had a bad purge solenoid. It was an out of warranty repair which cost me $320.

:wtf2:

This morning the light was still on

i tried pressing the gas cap and it was still on

drove 7 minutes and guess what

the light just shut off. This makes no sense. I read a similar problem
but his was due to amount of gas in his tank.

Has anyone had this problem. Light turning on and off.

One thing i did notice is the gas cap does not feel very tight
even though it clicks. I clicked it like 5 times to make sure .

I just had this problem recently. The light would go on and then after a while will shut off. I took it to the dealer and changed some sensors that Philipa mentioned in the previous post and the problem is gone.

Im gonna make an appointment for tuesday

im still under warrenty
so im hoping i should be ok

another dumb question

the nissan dealer i took it to
wanted to charge me 150 dollars to lift the car and check the noice under the car.

they told me because i was on a second hand vehacle and bought it at a small dealer. i would have to pay that even though car was on warrenty . thats a bit crazy dont you think ?

so should i tell the dealer i think its a solenoid ??
