I have a 2001 frontier cc and it is throwing P0440 and P1440 codes. I have had no luck in searching the forum for help on these codes. The gas cap is new and I have checked all the vacuum lines and they all seem to be fine. I know both codes are for a small leak in the evap system. One is positive and one is negative. Also, the light will randomly go off and on every week or so. Could it be the vent control valve? Anyone have a quick solution for this one? I'd appericate any help. This seems to be a common problem.

P0400 is an EGR malfunction. Something within that system set off the code. Testing required.

P1444, EVAP Canister Purge Volume Control Solenoid Valve. Most likely to be the valve attached to the charcoal canister. Since Nissan likes to locate those under the vehicle they take a beating in the elements. I'd test to be sure but 90% sure it's the valve.

Thanks for the info Reverend, but the codes I had are P0440 and P1440 not P0400 and P1444. Any info on the other codes?

It's an EVAP system leak. I would say black light it? Not to sure on how to locate this.

I've found another symptom. When I fill my tank.....Light will go off after a few start-ups. However once it goes below 3/4 of a tank...Light returns. Any help would be splended. Thanks all.
