I was wondering if my 08 nissan altima coupe which has this radio http://www.ebay.com/itm/07-08-09-NISSAN ... 4d&vxp=mtr can be switched to either this radio http://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-2012-NISSA ... aa&vxp=mtr or this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-2008-2009- ... 8e&vxp=mtr I also want to know what features will and wont work with either of them? Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the board!

Your first (and probably project killing) issue is going to be the HVAC controls. You have manual climate control, the Bose units have cutouts for automatic climate control. If you look at the top, yours has kind of a wavy/circleish shape, the automatic is straight. Your manual control unit will not fit into the automatic control unit cutout. I dont know if there is a way to convert your car from manual control to automatic control, but if there is I can guarantee it is going to be cost prohibitive.

Now, even if you were to find a way around the HVAC issue, your next problem is going to be harnesses and prewiring. The Bose units integrate Nav, an amped signal, and Bluetooth (I think). You dont have a Nav antennae, you dont have the stock Bose amp, and you dont have Bluetooth...at all. You might be able to get it to work with your wiring harness, but its not going to give you all of the features of the Bose unit that make it worth while.

If its the double din screen look you like, Id search for some aftermarket head units with the same features and buy the OEM trim piece to make it look clean. You will end up saving a lot of money and getting exactly what you want.

What on earth?

So you have the BOSE already and you want to switch to the BOSE?

with enough money and time, anything can be done... but as mentioned earlier this is not cost effective. You would have to pull much of your existing wiring and re-wire your car with wire harnesses specific for the navi... we're not talking one or two wire harnesses either... we're talking ripping your entire interior apart and replacing the harnesses for the Bose...I had to get one of my wire harnesses replaced once, and just that harness was over $2500 dollars... you're talking about rewiring your entire car because the wires for the Bose with navi are spidered in everywhere. this is just not a reasonable, sensible or feasible project! This is well over $5000 in labor, and wire harnesses!!!! :gotme

How about the one that uses the backup camera then? I would be happy with just that. At least I should be able to wire the camera and have the screen work. From looking at the backs of them the connections seem to be all there.

Well you might also consider getting the rear-view mirror with the backup camera installed from Nissan. It's one of the options from the Nissan website.

I installed my own Aftermarket radio/nav/ipod/backup camera unit for under 300 dollars (I bought a uses unit on Craigslist) and I'm happy with it. I mostly wanted the back up camera also, as well as line level pre-outs.

Consider aftermarket as this may be cheaper.
