Hello Everyone,

I am looking for this center console piece clip that holds the center console top down.

It will most likely have to come from a salvage 2006 M. This has been annoying me for the last couple months and would like to fix it once and for all.

By the way - Does anyone's rear mirror squeak really bad when going over bumpy surfaces? Any ideas on how to fix that?

Also, any help on the squeaky-ness of the rear mirror would be great too.

How could such an advanced mirror with all sorts of features on it, sound so cheap. It seriously sounds like Batman summoning his storm of bats .

I'm not going to search, but you can, I remember a thread about the mirror squeaking. At one point, they were replacing them under warranty, then they started rebuilding them under warranty, but I believe there was a DIY fix in the thread as well.

Your PMs are disabled (either by your profile or your number of posts). That said, since it isn't incredibly private anyway, you were checking with me to see if I had a link to the squeaky mirror issue or knew which dealers would fix it. My response:

Sorry, I don't have a link. I would have posted it as I did, but I can certainly imagine some people suggesting searching first just to make a point. Unfortunately, I don't have any idea on which dealers, either. I think they used to replace the mirror on warranty and then started rebuilding it, but I don't know for sure if that is correct or if they still rebuild them. IIRC, I assumed you were out of warranty when I made my post, so I thought you might want to obtain the rebuild kit yourself. If you have warranty, I'd suggest trying your dealer first and going from there, but even then, if you can successfully find the thread I'm talking about, having documentation to back your claim up might be helpful. That having been said, the thread was definitely on this forum, and it may have been about rattling/buzzing in the mirror, if that helps at all (I assume the fix would be the same, loose parts with inadequate insulation/padding can certainly squeak, rattle, or buzz when rubbing together).

Haha yea I sensed the inevitable suggestion to search as well, but I did try to search and came up dry. I will try various dealerships to see if they'll still warranty it. Thanks a lot for all the info, really appreciate it.

Bump for center console clip - this thing is killing me. To make things worse, only the clip from an M45 will work, not an M35 - just my luck.

I suppose that's possible, but I find it rather hard to believe. Maybe they use a different clip when you do/don't have a certain package (IE DVD player in console), but I don't think they use a different clip when you do/don't have a certain engine.

Yea that's my fault, you are correct. The M35 owner did not have the DVD player, therefore that clip was split into 2 clips, whereas the clip I need (as shown in the picture above) is just a one piece.

Can you use epoxy and repair it?

seems like a ton of trouble trying to find a replacement for that small piece, although I know my OCD would make me want a new one too...lol.
