I just bought a 91 q45 with a bad knock sensor and it has hurt my power
and acceleration terribly. I came across some info on the nico ecu tune through
Q45.org and read that the stage 3 tune can bypass factory knock sensors at heavy throttle. Can this be used as a temporary solution until the knock sensor can be fixed?

no you cannot use the NICO ECU to bypass the knock sensors. If the ECU detects bad knock sensors, it will put it in fail-safe mode which is the same as the stock ECU without knock senors. The NICO ECU will do nothing for you with bad knock sensors. We insist on properly functioning knock sensors, because under extreme conditions (hot weather combined with lower than recommended octane fuel) it could be an issue and engine damage could occur. With the knock sensors functioning, the ECU would be able to protect the engine from damage.
