This is a revised thread from the old CA18DET buy, sell, trade thread. To those who are interested in owning 1809cc's of nissan's past that is dubbed 'CA18DET', this section is a start for locating one of these small wonders. Keep in mind that this thread is only for information that could possibly lead to the acquisition of a CA18DET and not a discussion thread.

I do however advise all participating members to please check NICO's vendor section first when attempting to locate a CA18DET engine set or engine. The sponsors pay to help keep NICO up and running as well as to advertise their products and services. In the even that a sponsor cannot assist you with your request, please fell free to contact "Rafi A.K.A. pulsar_gtr" or contact myself A.K.A "Dee" as we have contacts that come across CA18DET engine every now and then.

It is part of the moderators responsibility to divert introduce members to services rendered by NICO's sponsors, so please take the above advise before consulting myself or Rafi as it is only fair to support the sponsors that supports our beloved NICO.

That can be done, so let me know if you're still interested. Been off the scene for a while because of Wilma trashing everything.

Finding a DE in RWD version is not as easy as one would like to assume. And it most definitely will be cheaper to buy a CA18DET as opposed to buying a CA18DE and I'll explain why.

1. injectors

2. durable low compression pistons

3. turbocharger

4. manifold

5. modifying of oil pan

6. Time it takes to tear down a DE to begin attempting to convert.

IMHO it's just not worth the headache unless you have a DET already with a bad block and you need another donor engine. Still, a big headache..........

However, if you're willing to spend between $600-$700 for a complete engine, then let me know and I'll drop you an email.

This is a DET engine that comes with turbocharger, exhaust manifold, injectors, intake manifold, possibly an A/C compressor, P/S pump, and alternator. If you want it with tranny add $200. I don't have pictures because pictures don't tell you anything as a buyer and I've stop wasting my time taking pictures unless there is a dying need for picture. The engines are guaranteed not be DOA. I wouldn't offer nor direct any member to an engine that I wouldn't use myself.

That can be done, but you'll be basically paying me for the labor as they are not my motors and the importer does not care to tear down a complete engine. I would safely assume around $450-$500 for a good block and head. If you really want something like this done, let me know.

I'd recommend at least a block and a head, but if it were me, I would just buy a complete motor to tide me over and see what I have to look forward to. Some machine shops do botchy work and I would hate for anyone to go through what I had to go through. When you think everything is going to be okay because your engine just came from a machine shop, but then you spin a bearing in only 12miles? It sucked..........But that's the past for me (Lesson learned).
