I am looking into a new car because mine just got into a wreck. I saw a G35 2003 sport coupe for sale with 112k miles on it for 13000.. obviously way over priced and going to be negotiated down. It looks in fantastic shape. However, how long will this car last me? Is it worth the investment with these miles?

Sorry, I'm a little confused. The thread title says 2004, but your posted message says 2003. Can you please clarify? That will make a difference when checking on recalls. Are you purchasing from a used car dealership or an Infiniti dealership? What are they willing to offer in the way of a warranty?

My mistake. It is a 2004. It is through a used car dealership as well. I am not sure what they offer for warranty, but will definitely find out before I buy.

Thanks for clearing that up! Thought it was just a typo. Anyway here's a few links to some reviews you may find interesting. Edmunds.com - Consumer Reviews Carsurvey.org - 2004 G35

There's only a couple of recalls, but nothing major. IMO, you really need to see if you can get them to knock another $3-4k off that price.

Great. Thanks! In your option, do you think the car has many miles left on it? If, lets say, the maintenance was done propperly and such in it's life span.

Should reasonably last until 200,000 miles if you take decent care of it.

It all depends on prior maintenance for the most part. Watch inner-front tire wear and keep checking oil as those are known to have issues with blow-by.

I'm in agreement with larsG35 and audtatious. The vehicle is 10 years old, but was driven an average of less than 1,200 miles a year. Your local Infiniti dealership can run the VIN to see what work was done by any Infiniti shop.

Does the seller have the vehicle posted on a website? If so, you could post a link, and we could see if something leaps out.

If the car was maintained, you should easily get 200k miles out of it. I have almost 173k on my 03 sedan, which has the same motor and drivetrain.

People are getting 300k+ out of the VQ35 if it is maintained. I had 153k on my Maxima when I got rid of it and the only problem I ever had was with a O2 sensor.

I just bought my 05 6MT Sedan with 154K on the dial. It runs like a Swiss watch. I received no service records with the vehicle, but I believe it's going to be a very good car for years to come. The only bad idea I can see in your original question is that you're considering a car someone is asking $13K for. When I was shopping I saw lots of 03 and 04 cars with ~100K going for $6-8K. I paid $6K for my 05 because of the mileage.

You absolutely should not pay that much for the car. Keep looking for one that you can snag at a decent price. I bought my 03 G35 Sedan from a guy off Craigslist in 2008 for 9k. It had 75k on it when I purchased it, I have 235K now. One of the best purchases ever.

I'm looking at trading in my mini for an 04 G35 as well.. they are asking 9900 for it with 97000 miles.

Just run the information through NADA and KBB sites for values and watch you local dealerships / autotrader / etc. for what they are selling for.
