What can YOU do to help?

First: GET INVOLVED. Find out what YOUR state's legislators think of this issue.

Second: join us at SEMA's Action Network: http://www.semasan.com/san/join.aspx
NICOclub has been a proud member for nearly 8 years, and they're the ONLY organization that's actively defending our rights as automobile enthusiasts.

Third: Write letters to your local elected officials, and those in Washington. Let them know that we do NOT support their wasting taxpayer money chasing down our fellow law-abiding automotive enthusiasts.

Let us know what we can do to help, Greg. Vandrel, you as well.

The taxpayers' dollars spent on this is absolutely ludicrous. How much time/money was spent, and how many total resources used, do you think it took simply to seize this ONE SKYLINE, because it is deemed "unsafe"? Absolutely absurd. Keep up posted.

Ditto for me, keep us informed on what we can do. I'll spread the word on every forum i'm on to try to garner as much support as we can for Vandrel and SOUSA, This just isn't right to waste energy on cars like this when we have so many more important issues that get looked over.

We want transmission. We were promised transmission. How much did this operation cost? Let's find out.

you know why? regardless of cost, it's easier to pick on a select few people than to deal with the issues that really need to be dealt with.

Exactly, why just run up and punch the biggest guy in school in the face? Instead they pick on the little dorky kids that are actually good kids. To everyone that loves the skylines and doesn't join a group or write a letter, step up your game, stand tall for the real things you love, thats America! lol :dblthumb:

After reading the article I actually feel sad. Not only did he jump through all hoops and abide by all the information he was given, all the money and investment in owning and taking care of the car is just thrown away. Whether or not people agree, personal debt and govt debt are linked. I have a good friend who owns a skyline and I will shoot this article his way. What a waste of time and govt. money. ugh

come together nico :grouphug:

I'm glad the federal government is on this because it means they solved war, poverty, and recession and simply worked their way down their list of priorities.

If skylines are deemed "unsafe" then they should just go out there and crush every mazda miata and smart for two car in the country. There is no way those are safer than a full bodied coupe in a car accident regardless of it's make. If you gave me the choice of sitting in a honda crx (for example) or a R34 skyline to get into a crash at some random intersection, I would choose to sit in the skyline. I am sure I will have a higher chance of survival in it. It is also obvious here that the government is trying to cover their tracks on paper by listing the car as contraband. I am sure with all the skylines they have seized now and in the past, they could have taken these said skylines and put them into a crash test to get the issue solved and over with. A few crash tests would probably been cheaper than launching a nationwide seizure campaign. I am pretty sure they will all pass the test based on their year of production. All they need to do is log that data and leave the rest of us alone.

Let's not forget, it's not just the "safety" issue they're basing their actions on. The EPA plays a role in this.

Make sure you guys read the article on Skyline Importation: http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/the-fa ... tes-1.html

How many people are actually willing to help $$$$$$$?

Its all about dollar$ and $en$e kids. It$ going to take money to fight it. If people are willing to throw some money, then the start of something cohesive can happen, if not its just a bunch of internet nothings... love lists, hate lists.

I have thought about this a lot, a lot longer than anyone else. I know the in's and outs, and things can be done, but it is slow. It is costly.

People don't want to pony up the cash. After all, look at all the places that have gone and copy what Motorex did in regards to import and legalization...all those guys... I mean no one.

Anyone who knows me knows I have had a "thing" for Skylines for many years now. But seriously, now, let's think about priorities. We are trying to reduce the size of government so it can focus on more impactful activities. Compared to reforming the FDA, Immigration, the DEA, and the ATF, for example, I see no value in wasting the government's (and my) money right now to legalize the importation of a car that's set up for left-lane driving and generally only marketable to kids who don't have the money to buy/maintain one in the first place.

Is it a dream of mine to own an R-34 vSpec II? Absolutely. Should it take priority over improving the testing protocols for new oncological medications? No.

To those who are having their ILLEGALLY POSESSED cars seized by the government -- I'm sorry. It's a tragedy. But not because you lost your car -- it's a tragedy that it will be crushed instead of being eligible for me to buy and drive myself 15 years from now. You knew what you were getting in to. You knew the risks. Don't belly-ache over being made the government's b****. Ask anyone who has ever grown "just a little harmless weed for medicinal purposes" and gotten busted. Ask anyone who has come over here from Mexico to work in order to put food on the table for their family. Ask anyone who has gotten a ticket for driving faster than the posted speed limit even though the road was flat, wide and dry and no other cars where anywhere around.

It is what it is. You played a dangerous game and you lost. End of story.

The point is, people know this is wrong. The point is, people know there are bigger priorities that our valauble resources could be used on. This needs to become as visible as possible if anything is to come of it. I'm 100% behind Vandrel in his effort to get his Skyline back.

Try prioritist.

Spend resources on bigger issues, people complain less.
Spend resources actually FIXING said bigger issues, people complain EVEN LESS.
Spend resources on crap that no one in the entire friggin country cares about when there are bigger issues that people DO care about, people complain.

NEVER do you start from the bottom.

You ALWAYS start with the area of greatest risk, greatest liability, greatest threat, greatest public concern. PERIOD.

What is it about this Administration that has elevated the seizure of Nissan Skylines to such a high priority? That's the question we need to be asking, until we receive a satisfactory answer.

We're issuing drivers' licenses to illegal immigrants. We're decriminalizing possession and use of marijuana. We're making concessions to failed automobile manufacturers, financial institutions and other industries.

All this laxity, and yet we're "cracking down" on a handful of imported cars? Hmmmm.....
