Would like some suggestions on what type brake pads I should get for my M35. This is my first time to replace, and not really sold on OEM pads. Would appreciate any good suggestions on brand to look for.

As most people will tell you on this forum, buy this and replace it all:

In 70 hits only got one suggestion. Does no one have any experience in brake pads?

Your question was answered. What is the problem here? :rotflmao Majority of this forum is running the kit that was provided to you via EBay link.

As for changing them, view the FAQ thread and read my HowTo. I did both back and front and documented.

Welcome to the forum! Ilya and Enigma are right, most members are using the brakes shown in the link. If not, then people are upgrading to the Akebono BBK.

I just purchased a set of Powerstop slotted and drilled rotors and Hawk pads.

My OEM rotors are warped again after just 30k.

Never used the Powerstop rotors before they have to way better than the garbage stock rotors. I used Hawkpads on my pervious cars and have zeo complaints.

Plan to install the new rotors and pads in the next month.

Do you remember which Hawk pads you used? I think I have seen several different names under the Hawk name. Thanks for the info!

FWIW, I use Centric rotors (from Tire Rack) and OEM brake pads.

In my experience, the OEM pads exhibit a good combination of stopping power, relatively little noise and decent longevity. However, many people have also had good results from a number of different sources too - links here in this thread and elsewhere in other threads.

Just don't get anything that promises to give you tons of longevity and no dust and no noise ... that outcome is not a characteristic of the best brake pads! :)

I bought the HPS pad
http://www.hawkperformance.com/performance/hps.php

I've used the PC pad previously
http://www.hawkperformance.com/performance/ceramic.php

Need to find the time to install them.

Also use them on my Xterra , major difference over OEM or any other pad I've used on the Xterra.

No complaints about the brakemotive setup from eBay. I didn't care for the brakes so once they were about gone I upgraded to better pads. You won't get deal like that anywhere else.

I've spent A LOT of time researching rotors and pads for our cars. In the end.. I bought the Centric rotors (the black coated ones) and akebono pads from Napa. It's by far the best setup I've had on my car yet and after several thousand miles (17k) I still brakes perfectly smooth. I bought the brakemotive kit from ebay and the rotors warped in a month, plus the pads make a lot of noise. Stay away. They're cheap for a reason. Don't get burned like I did. Centric rotors.... akebono(hybrid) pads. Great stuff!!!

You're the first person I have heard of having issues. A lot of us run the brakemotive kit and I am on my second set.

Did you bed them in properly?

Seems like a fluke incident and I wouldn't really put too my stake into the post above. Everyone else on here will probably tell you they love them. My first set went like 41kmi without issue and that included hard driving...my current set is at like 3k so far without a problem.

This is my first Infiniti, mostly BMW's in the past. I can never think of a time that I had a warped rotor, and brake pads I used would easily make it 75k miles. Every BMW I had, exceeded 300k miles without warped rotors. I even have a Suburban with 304k miles, and the rotors on it are the original ones that came on it back in 1994. They have been turned once, they were not that bad, I did it because of wear pattern. They definitely have never warped. To say 41k miles without any issues concerns me. I would not expect issues of any type for many miles past that.
I guess what I am getting at......does Infiniti have problems with their braking system that I should be aware of? Thanks to everyone for their input.

The M is known to be very heavy for its brake system, as such it puts too much stress on the rotors and can warp them easily. OEM rotors are the worst.
I drive incredibly hard quite often, so my pads usually only last me 30k miles at the most, with one set of Hawk's only making it to 17k miles.

i just bought a 2006 m35 , fully loaded. could not be happier with it. Only problem is the breaks squeal loud when im slowly coming to a stop. The previous owner took excellent care of the car, and said the brakes were only a few months old. He said they maid that noise since he replaced them but never went ack to the dealer to fix them. You think i should replace the pads?

so glad someone was thinking the same thing i was. I'll probably go with the ebay kit and just get Hawk or Akebono pads.

According to the tirerack there are plenty of choices. Can someone help me decide which way to go?

When I bought my car it didnt squeak, within 2 days the rotors had gotten warped and it started to squeal based on my stopping style. Within a week it was so bad that people from other cars would look at me when I stopped. Ever sine I went to aftermarket rotors and pads it hasnt squeaked anymore. The OEM rotors and pads are just too terrible and should be replaced as soon as you can.

I like Hawk, and think they stop very well. However my set of pads (Hawk HPS) lasted an incredibly short amount of time. I am told that Akembo performance pads stop very well too, but I dont know about their lifetime since I havent used them myself. If I was going to buy rotors and pads again and didnt end up going with Brakemotive, then I would try out the Akembo's and Centric high carbon cryo rotors. But thats just me.

NRGM45 is the only one I have known to really dislike them, so I would not try and avoid those as they are the best deal for the price and very good rotors even comparing to more expensive things. I too warped my Brakemotive rotors in 3-4 weeks, but that doesnt mean anything and shouldn't be taken as a mark against them. I warped the stock OEM rotors in 2 days, it took 2 weeks for me to warp some TriNet rotors, I warped some Brembo's in about 3 weeks, and these Brakemotive (which are also Brembo brand) rotors in 3-4 weeks. I just drive very hard and NRGM45 probably does as well. So if you are driving like us then buy the more expensive stuff since that is what you need. But if you drive like a normal person then the kit will be fine. I also didn't notice any noise from the Brakemotive kit in its entire life and they have better than OEM stopping power. The Brakemotive kit that I got from Ebay used Brembo brand rotors and PowerStop ceramic pads.

ok cool thanks. the OEM ones are driving me crazy. Considering I bought the car used in September ,rotors were prob. never changed, and it took until last month for the rotors to get all wobbly on my I figure I will seat these properly and have them for a long time.

Thank you all!

If you take the rotor off the car you should be able to visually see the warpage unless it is just minor damage. Running your fingers on the rotor you should also be able to feel the problem. Other things you can do is lay a razor blade on the rotor to make sure it is flat, or get a well made ruler that you are sure is flat and put that on the rotor to check for high/low spots.

this weekend i checked my rotors for signs of warping, they look fine. Clled the previous owner. He says he got new rotors and pads installed from pep boys. They were fine the first 2 daus, then they started to squeel. They only make noise whn im braking slowly. Any suggestions?

Changed the front rotors and pads today.

Powerstop rotors and Hawk HPS pads.

Took about 1.5hrs

I have the same Hawk pads for the rear but need to decide on rotors, hope to get to the rears next month

off with the garbage OEM rotors.

...the brake motive rotors I had on the fronts have run its course... Approx 15K miles with mixed driving -- spirited/hard braking, city, fwy stop and go, etc....

The akebono ceramics (pro-act) pads worked really great!!!

I've installed the StopTech cross drilled/slotted cryo rotors on the fronts now along with another set of the same Akebonos.... Very pleased with the look and feel.... No noise, good grab.... Also like the black coating on the rotor hat and in between the discs. The rear brake motive rotors are still ok, but will pick up a new set of the StopTechs for the rears as well when ready....

The cryo treated rotors should hold longer.... If so, I'll always go for the cryos from now on....
