I'll believe it when I see it..... maybe 50 watts peak, RMS has to be around 15w

well my 98 maxima bose is listed as 200 watts.
the 3rd gen maxima 89-90 bose was listed as 200watts.
90-95 acura legend was listed as 200 watts.

as for the 3rd gen maxima and my 4th gen maxima...yea you can tell it's 200 watts.
the infiniti i couldn't tel you because i have a pioneer h/u in there.
but with the volume level at 10 it's pretty loud.

Specifying amplifier without speaker efficiency is meaningless, as modern system use inflated "wattage" to cover up cheap speakers.

If a non tweeter speaker doesn't have a 2-3 pound magnet it is low in efficiency.

1.00 acoustic watts = 107.5 db SPL
10.00 acoustics watts = a 75 piece orchestra at the closest seats.

Cars interior volume limits efficiency and lowest frequency generated.

No such thing as an "active sound system" option ever existed from the factory in a 90-96Q. Simple clarion head unit with Bose speakers and amplifiers, and some had cd changers installed in trunk. Now the early G20 and possibly other ancient models did use the trem "active speaker" to denote a frequency trimmed speaker system.

Thats true but in Japan on the Nissan President (JHG50, PHG50...) they may have had a active sound system, I am sure it was another sound system just not sure of the name used for it. It is referenced in my 1990,1991 and 1993 Infinti Q45 service manual.

it's called active speaker system.
the amp for it is mounted in the rear. unlike the bose who has em at each speaker.

You show me in your car that its OEM and I will send you $20 for the trouble you went though, No joke!

The Amplifier you think is Active Speaker System Amp is probably the Fuel Pump Control Unit, Active Suspension Control Unit, HICAS Control Unit, Traction Control Unit or the Car Phone Receiver (Control Unit).

I could be wrong and someone actually bought the Active Speaker System from Japan and put it in your Q45.

With the new NICO software we can't see who everyone replies to when you use the Quick Reply button.

My guess is that the people who wrote the owners manual got lazy and forgot to keep certain things out. You should see how many errors I found in the service manual; such as TCS spelled TSC...

The Nissan President (PHG50 and JHG50) has about 10 service manuals, But I think they just separate them into sections such as Lubrication and Cooling (LC), Engine Mechanical (EM)...

yea.
but using the maxima as a comparison for the active speaker and the bose.
the bose wins hands down.

the only gain over the active speaker is that you can use aftermarket speakers and not having to do a whole rewire unless the amp itself goes haywire.

my friends are amazed that 19 year old bose system is able to produce bass and clarity and handle an aftermarket h/u

Bose was not an "option" on the q45, it WAS STANDARD AND the ONLY system available to EVERY SINGLE 1990-1996 q45 sold in the USA.......again, there WAS NO "active" audio system ever offered in USA 90-96 q45 models..........hopefully this clarification will help future newbie owners when they search and read......soo much misinformation stored here among the valuable information available to new owners wishing to learn.

The 15 watt RMS class D amplifier on each speaker is more than capable of blooding ears IF the speakers are brand new [not over 4 years] have compliant surrounds. The paper cone changes and becomes more stiff especially if anyone ever smoked in vehicle or enviromental pollution was high.

The amplifiers have capacitors with a limited functional life [due to high ambient temperatures] they may degrade in distortion and limit the RMS power.

Easy to you [connect] audio test equipment to measure distortion on a speaker by speaker basis.
