My phone was able to connect but unable to play any music through the ipod interface. I'm not too sure if the ipod BT interface will accept music from android phones. It should work in theory, perhaps a different BT adapter would work.
Currently I'm running a RCA -> 3.5 mm cable from the AUX port behind the center console. It's not the most elegant solution. I'll eventually try this device to plug into the rear AUX port: http://www.amazon.com/Miccus-Mini-jack- ... B0038MA11U.
Anyone else have any ideas?
I just received the Miccus this afternoon and plugged it in. The package comes with: Miccus bluetooth rx device, one short 3.5mm male to male cable, short 3.5mm male to RCA left/right, one 3.5mm male to male plug, one USB to mini usb cable, instructions.Logan00 wrote:I would be interested to hear your impression of the Bluetooth receiver.
blue tooth for music? is this only an 08+ feature? i dont think my 06 would do it, but how does it work?Scottweinberg1 wrote:I have tried to use my Samsung galaxy 3. I have the usb cable and it still won't work. You have to keep using blue tooth.
He has a 2012, those come with bluetooth audio streaming. The 08-10 models have integrated ipod support via cable but no bluetooth audio.jmichael97 wrote:blue tooth for music? is this only an 08+ feature? i dont think my 06 would do it, but how does it work?Scottweinberg1 wrote:I have tried to use my Samsung galaxy 3. The RCA cable is only about 6 inches long where as the power cord is about 15 inches or so...I was able to just run the wire between the gap of the arm rest of the center console and the console itself...Like if you lift up the arm rest you'll see how there becomes a gap near the back of the console...Just threw it in the console and done...cables were long enough to do that and then aren't in anyone's way in the front or back of the car.Logan00 wrote:Video is a little dark but we get the idea![]()
Where do you keep the Miccus when you are driving, are the included cables long enough for it to sit in the front center console? Since you are having success with it I may pick it up but I would like to keep it in the center console so it is concealed.
Thanks
I had a small quality comparison in my post earlier, but I find that the Miccus device amplifies the signal before it sends it to the AUX ports. Bass is deeper and slightly more distorted with the Miccus compared to directly connected to the AUX port. The mids and highs sound "muffled" to me.TXT wrote:How would you compare the sound quality on that to lets say a direct connection?
I have a similar set up for the house. It's basically a 20 dollar bluetooth streaming device that connects to any sound system so I can play songs, movies or games on my iPhone and not have any wires connected. The sound on that is not the best and there is a noticeable raspy/static sound to it.
My thoughts are to get one of those "add a cigarette lighter" sets they sell at autozone and tap into the existing lighter jack in the back of the car and run the wires into my armrest. I would do the same with the 3 RCA jacks and run the wires into the console. That way, I can have that small door shut in the back and not have ANY visible wires.
So it sounds like you are giving up more quality, plugging into the aux ports directly, for convenience, using the Miccus?agee wrote:The Miccus is worse quality of the three options, but it's so damn convenient. I don't have to download files to a CF card before I leave the house. I don't have cables coming from the top (3.5mm) AND the bottom (usb charging) of my phone. Its awkward to pick up the phone when there's all these wires coming from it.
Exactly. I have a Nexus 4 so my 3.5mm plug is at the top of the phone while the power is at the bottom of the phone. Having two wires pull and tug when I pick up the phone to pattern unlock the screen is bothersome. Part of the problem is that I don't have a phone cradle/stand, I haven't found a spot where I can easily get to the phone. I just purchased the Tasker app on android and almost created a profile that will disable pattern/password unlock when the phone is connected to the car's bluetooth and will relock it when bluetooth disconnects/car is off.Logan00 wrote: So it sounds like you are giving up more quality, plugging into the aux ports directly, for convenience, using the Miccus?
Am I reading that right?
Are you using the built in music player on the Phone?? I use PowerAmp music player and my system is as loud or louder then a cd. I have an aftermarket 12" sub and honestly I don't think I lose much quality at all and I'm pretty stubborn about my music.agee wrote:Exactly. This is only my opinion, but the Miccus is slightly worse quality than FM radio. I was testing with a song with an okay amount of bass (Daft Punk - Get Lucky) and I ended having to adjust the bass control on the radio down a notch or two. But it's much clearer than AM radio, but by no means are you getting CD quality sound from this device. At $40, I'd would recommend purchasing from Amazon and trying it out. If by some reason the device "doesn't work" Amazon will cover return shipping charges.
I'm curious to quality of other bluetooth devices are. I have a friend with a Jabra that I'll try to borrow and test out.
Check out the 3rd post in this thread. I tried a similar device with my android phone and the setup did not work. It wouldn't hurt to try it out since Amazon has a generous return policy for items that don't work and/or are not as described. Be aware, you might need the Scosche adapter to provide power to the BT device. Update the thread if/when you get to test it.ITbuddha wrote:so how does this solution compare to something like the Grom unit? I want digital Bluetooth if possible rather than stereo from aux.
Has anyone tried something like this?

Maybe take a look at this (don't know if it will work cause I haven't tried, but looks helpful).Infiniti_M35B wrote:I have a 2006 Infiniti M35 Base and mine doesnt have anywhere i can connect my ipod to, it has bluetooth but on for phone calls is there anywhere i can connect a aux cable or somthing i am currently using a fm transmitter and the sound quality sucks
